A bit too Christian
I guess I knew what I was getting into (YMCA with bathroom facilities on the hallway), so given where it is and what it is, it was good and decent for the price. I suggest that people use the gym to shower — it’s much better than the stuff on the floor. But where this thing fails is the little things. There isn’t a reading light in the room — just a strong 200W ceiling light. The internet is CENSORED. Yes, in 2019 in New York City you can’t access a dating app on their Wi-Fi. Seriously? Is the “C” in “YMCA” still taken a face value? A bit hypocritical considering that the steam room in the gym locker rooms is a giant physical hook-up site... And, finally, a tip. The rooms have no facilities at all, not even sinks (I had expected there to be a sink). So go downstairs to the CVS pharmacy on 47th St and buy a gallon of bottled water. Drink the water and you’ve got a port-a-potty in case you need to pee in the middle of the night and don’t want to have to dress up, put shoes on, and walk 100m across three corridors to the facilities.

Lovely staff from check-in to security to passing cleaners in the hall. All so lovely. Room and shared bathrooms where clean and I had no issues being disrupted by other guests. I did have the issue of VERY loud banging pipes which I was aware of thanks to other reviews so was prepared for but couldnt have handled more than the single night I stayed. I would stay here again as single nights but not longer as its hard to get quality sleep.

A great property. Security is excellent, gym facilities extremely useful for someone who needs to maintain their gym schedule. Beds are a bit stiff for my taste, but beside that, a great hotel with a bit of a hostel feel

All as expected for a stay at the Y. Only issue -ongoing- is the noises made by the heat radiators, especially on level 6. Expect to be disturbed/awoken from the clanging when they heat up!
