Mallorca Hotels

A popular destination for families and those seeking some sun and sea, Mallorca Island often tempts tourists in with its cheap hotel deals and party resorts. However, there’s also a quieter side to the island, and many areas have unspoiled beaches, traditional restaurants, and historic architecture making them great places to relax.

Cala Mayor Beach is always busy and lively thanks to its location close to Palma and the family-friendly hotels set around the area. On the golden sandy beaches you’ll see kids playing, volleyball matches, and vacationers relaxing with cocktails under the shade of the giant parasols. Alcudia Beach is also surrounded by popular hotels and resorts, and this white sandy stretch has a laid back vibe, with clear, shallow seas and swaying palm trees. Palma Nova Beach has long expanses of sand surrounded by rolling green hills, and this area is popular with luxury, adult-focused resorts that are a hit with honeymooners. El Arenal Beach attracts the younger crowd and has a reputation as a party beach. Along the seafront you’ll find many high-rise hotels, nightclubs, and lively bars which open throughout the day. Inland you’ll find the eye-catching Mallorca Cathedral which was designed in a dramatic Catalan Gothic style, and if you wander around inside you’ll see the high ceilings, intricate stained glass windows, and polished wooden pews.

Hotels in Mallorca

Most Mallorca Island hotels are close to the beach, making the most of the pleasant coastal scenery around the island. These popular resorts often have features such as outdoor pools, poolside bars, complimentary WiFi, computer terminals, business centers, concierge services, tour and ticket assistance, currency exchanges, and laundry facilities. Rooms also have plenty of extra amenities so you can enjoy your vacation, and these could include air conditioning, balconies, safes, hair dryers, kitchenettes, rollaway beds, and extra towels on request.

Where to stay

Palma de Mallorca is the capital of the island and is its commercial and cultural heart. The narrow streets of the areas such as Old Town are full of stylish boutiques, with a mixture of high-end stores and colorful markets selling souvenirs. There are also many popular, busy beaches surrounded by high-rise hotels, with a thriving nightlife scene once the sun goes down. To the east of the city is the smaller resort of Playa de Palma which has quieter beaches, including some secluded bays, yet still enjoys the white sands and clear waters of the more popular resorts. Alcudia is the main tourist resort in the north of the island, and the old town has buildings dating back to the 13th century. You’ll find pleasant beaches, quirky markets, and annual festivals in this quaint yet lively town.

How to get to Mallorca

The vast majority of tourists arrive via Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI) which is just a few miles east of the capital. From here there are flights available across Europe, including most of the major city hubs. You can rent a car and drive yourself around Mallorca, book a private shuttle, or simply hop on one of the public buses at the front of the terminal which covers many of the major resorts around the south of the island. Get off at the Intermodal Station in the heart of Palma and you can use the Metro to get to your final destination, as well as having an easy way to zip around the city at peak times. Stops such as Palma de Mallorca Son Fuster Station are well placed for major resorts and attractions, and you can buy a weekly pass if you’re staying in the area.
