4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in London

  1. Book for the cheapest times: The most affordable time to visit London is between January and March, when hotel prices tend to be lower. For a budget-friendly getaway, a stay of at least 2 to 3 days is recommended to fully experience the city’s iconic landmarks and rich cultural history. During your visit, you can explore a range of attractions, including world-class museums, stunning architecture, and historic monuments. With the potential for prices to drop during this period, it's a fantastic opportunity to enjoy the theatre, art galleries, and vibrant shopping scenes, all while getting great value for money.
  2. Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: To discover last-minute deals to London, visit the DealsOpens in a new window or Last-Minute Deals section on Hotels.com, where you may find discounted rates on hotels as your travel date approaches. Enabling email alerts or push notifications will help you stay informed about flash sales and exclusive promotions, so you’re less likely to miss opportunities for savings. Additionally, the Smart Shopping tool available through the app allows you to compare hotel prices and amenities, ensuring you’re notified first if rooms become available or prices drop, making your last-minute getaway easier to book.
  3. Be flexible with dates: Prices can fluctuate depending on factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year, so being flexible with your travel dates may help you save on your hotel stay in London. For those seeking unique accommodations, boutique hotels often provide a more personalised experience and can sometimes offer better value. When you book through Hotels.com, we'll inform you whether the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price is on the higher side, we’ll suggest alternative dates that could be more affordable, helping you to potentially secure a better deal.
  4. Consider your location: Hotels situated near the city centre usually tend to be more expensive; however, with London’s superb public transport links, you may discover a more affordable independent hotel a bit further out that remains well connected. For those keen to explore alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often excellent value for money available. Opting for these alternative locations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
