My husband and I traveled to Ocean Riviera Paradise to celebrate our milestone birthdays; we were there for one full week.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by very friendly bell staff who took care of our luggage.
Checking in was a bit of a problem; I was in communication with the concierge staff prior to our arrival and confirmed an upgraded room in El Beso( I knew of the up charge fee and agreed to it prior to our arrival). When I arrived to the El Beso check in counter, the staff were not friendly, nor were they helpful. Dylan, who checked us in looked annoyed when I mentioned I had confirmed an El Beso swim up room, he rolled his eyes and said I would need to pay for it, asking if I we could afford the price difference. I understand there are some communication barriers, but asking if I can afford something I thought was already confirmed was very inappropriate. On top of that, I was charged $350 extra; the assistant manager had to come and explain the mishap which led to a refund then re-charge. All the while my husband who I was trying to surprise, was standing there, slightly confused and embarrassed.
Fast forward we got the room situated, but then we were immediately bombarded by Ignacio who was very persistent about speaking with us to promote add ons to our already impacted trip. He was friendly but very pushy. All over the resort even with included amenities, the staff push add-on services. Definitely ruins the trip and experience. We already paid so much.
