Nature lovers will get the most out of this garden, but just about anyone can enjoy a visit here. Whether you're looking for a place to relax or want to embark on a satisfying stroll, this garden is the perfect spot. Most people spend about 2 or 3 hours here, but you can always stay longer if you like.

Ho'omaluhia Botanical Garden highlights
Amongst the most popular aspects of Ho'omaluhia Botanical Garden are the hiking trails. You can trek through vibrant brush with greenlands and lush tropical trees all with a backdrop of a towering green mountain. Most of the trails are easy and accessible as well, so just about everyone can enjoy them.
If you want to do some fishing during your visit, head to Hoomaluhia Lake where you can cast out and relax while catching plenty of fish in this populous body of water. The garden even has bamboo poles you can borrow, but there is a limited amount, and they're distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
Good to know when visiting Ho'omaluhia Botanical Garden
If you plan on embarking on the hiking trails at Ho'omaluhia Botanical Garden, make sure you have the proper gear. None of the trails are particularly difficult, but they can get quite muddy at times. If you're willing to hop or sidestep past the muddy parts, it's not so much of a problem, but if you prefer just a relaxing stroll, be prepared for some dirty footwear.
Keep in mind that Ho'omaluhia Botanical Garden is a bit of a drive from Honolulu's city centre area. You'll be heading northeast for a little over 11 miles, and the drive itself takes about half an hour most of the time.
