The room was clean and comfortable. The food was great. The staff friendly. It’s right in the heart of Bury St Edmunds, close to the cathedral. Abbey grounds, shopping and lots of restaurants.

Very friendly and efficient staff. Good to stay somewhere a little different. Great range of old photos and interpretation boards explaining the history of the property and the brewery story

What a find, accommodation in the centre of town with quality food and drink on site. Great mix of old with the new, lovely rooms extremely well kitted out and even a welcome gift. The only minor niggle was lack of magnifying mirror for shaving/make up.

Quaint and quirky pub. Rooms are to a high standard though cozy rather than roomy. Good facilities in room. Evening menu a bit limited but lots of other places nearby. Dogs allowed in pub but no dog friendly rooms.

Good night stay whilst being on business. The bathroom was incredible and newly done with a huge and incredibly powerful shower.
Some of the decor was a little dated and there was lots of hanging and noises during the night. But good place to stay on a business trip.

Staff and room lovely, but communal areas outside room a little ‘tired’. Excellent food and beer, and positioning for access to the town cannot be beaten.

I was a solo traveller in a spacious double room on the second floor. There is no lift which wasn't an issue for me.
My only issue with the rooms is that it was impossible to turn the radiators on. Otherwise the building has been sympathetically decorated with a cosy ambience. The evening meal was excellent. Staff friendly and helpful.

The property is in the Heart of the town, within a short walk of the Abbey gardens, brewery, theatre and cathedral.
I found the hardworking staff friendly, helpful and friendly.
I found my stay in their accommodation to be comfortable, with all modern amenities.
I would recommend this property, and would stay there again if I visit Bury St Edmunds again

Adam and his team were great, after my wife had to visit A&E he contacted us to say he would stay up incase we were back very late and needed to change room.
The crisis over the nextday we enjoyed the pub ambience lovely rooms and food.
Great stay in central Bury St Edmunds fo a 50th birthday celebration weekend.

This is a sweet little hotel connected to a restaurant. The rooms are clean and windows open nicely. The bed is comfortable and bathroom is clean and roomy. Insiders secret: if you want to order from the restaurant to your room for room-service you have to pre-order the meal. Other than that, I have no complaints.

We booked in so that we could attend the Theatre Royal, which is close by. We wondered whether the parking would be adequate, and it was. We had lunch on arrival. My wife ordered chicken kiev but the dish was really chicken escalopes, but still nice. We liked our room. Temperature control via radiator valves. Very comfortable and clean. The bathroom equipment looked brand new.

Although very nice the gentleman checking us in gave us the impression that everything was to much work, didn’t offer to help with our bags and when I asked which way to our rooms he showed me into the courtyard and pointed at a door and said he was going to take this opportunity to have a cigarette, the room very basic but clean and they did manage to get us a table for dinner and we were able to watch the football staff were lovely

I believe it had just reopened after being closed for a whilst for refurbishment. Having not seen the before i cannot comment on the works undertaken. However the place i visited was super, friendly staff (dont think they had been refurbished), great room and very comfy. The rooms are in the adjoining property, so isolated for the jovial atmosphere in the restaurant. And it was jovial and busy (on a Wednesday evening) and again the staff were brill. The food was some of the best ive had in ages, accompanied by two glasses of very reasonably priced glasses on champagne.
My room faced the road, which was busy early evening was very quite come bedtime.
Perfect breakfast including the poached egg (inside joke). The only complaint was that i was only there for one night

Room was gloomy and nosiy. Either people outside smoking and shouting until late and then staff banging doors repeatedly at 05.30am.
The bathroom windows and shower were covered in mold.
Many reviews here state how good breakfast was, they must have stayed at another pub. Breakfast was controlled beyond belief, everything had to be requested; if you asked for toast you would eventualy get a single piece of bread, if you wanted butter, you had to ask for it. If you wanted sugar, again you had to ask for it.
This is now on my 'never stay here again' list
