We stopped overnight on a longer journey, the room was dated but we had a deal so no complaints for the amount of time we were actually in it. Plenty of parking and a nice relaxed morning. We'll certainly be using it again

Fingle weekend break
Staff were friendly and made us feel welcome, the accommodation was nice and comfortable, will definitely visit again

2/10 Poor

Total waste of money, no lights in parking even they mention about breakfast but they haven’t provide anything
Jaimin, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

Poor choice of food
I went for a golf break, The course was not very clearly marked out but a good challenging course. On returning to the clubhouse we had a great welcome but the evening meal was not good, most of the limited menu was unavailable so very disappointed as the website made it seem like it would be a good dining experience.

Were told that the chef had gone off sick and that they wouldn’t be able to provide any evening meals or a breakfast service, other than supplying a choice of a pasty or sausage roll. However when we went down to breakfast, expecting the worst, there was cereal, toast and yoghurts available as well as toast. We were also offered a bacon or sausage sandwich which was appreciated.

Great value for money
Some condition issues however, the property is clearly being refurbished so for the price of the stay the value was excellent. Staff went out of their way to make the stay better. Location was excellent. Beautiful scenery. Breakfast was very good.

Second time staying here within a couple of weeks. Has become our go to choice when visiting family in Exeter. The mattreses could do with an upgrade but the customer service is unrivalled and the breakfast is exellent. Will definitely keep visiting.

Recommend you stay in the Suite.
I stayed in their hotel Suite. I was very surprised with the size and layout of the seating room, separate bedroom and bathroom. Parking was right in front of the building. Staff very helpful and friendly.

Our room in main building was nice, however, advertising of accommodation online was misleading as we expected to stay in a wooden bungalow. This is how it appears on their website. It has been explained to us that in order to stay in the bungalow your booking should be for at least for 3 nights. Our room was clean, comfortable, had everything you would need for one night stay in the hotel room. Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful

Smashing staff. All very friendly and helpful.Accommodation left something to be desired. Paintwork a bit shabby, double glazed window in room “blown” and in need of replacement. Curtains inadequate to prevent being woken at first light. Once again, staff were lovely but the venue in need of attention.

4/10 Fair

The hotel itself was fine and the breakfast very good, however the highest priority for me was getting a good night's sleep. The mattress on the bed was awful. The metal springs could be felt through the thin mattress cover to such an extent I found it painful to lie on. I tried adding the spare pillows (single traveller) underneath me but I still barely slept an hour all night. There were also no lights outside or around the building. Getting from the car park to the hotel in the dark was dangerous on the uneven and potholed terrain. Going out later that night also meant having to use an outside fire escape and a Fire Door that was always open from the outside.

Not so good
Had the suit , so was expecting something nice , not quite the case , from trying to enter the room with handle hanging off to then wanting a shower and having to try and fix it first wasn’t the plan , very disappointed

Okay…
Not a very friendly receptionist at check in, who informed us that the Wifi was down - it never was fixed over the next 16 hours - and also informed us that the chef was unwell so no dinner that night or hot breakfast the next day was available. No apology for either, but did give a good recommendation on the nearest pub for dinner. Room was clean, nicely decorated & bed comfy but bathroom sink was a corner sink so difficult to use for shaving, make up etc. No hair dryer in the room. Plenty of hot water in the shower & good water pressure. In the end another staff member did do a bacon sandwich for guests in the morning, which was welcome.

Great value for money and very cosy
No towel or toiletries but the space was great for 4people and hot tub added perfect touch. The bathrooms and bedrooms were clean the staff was friendly. We paid during December 14th £252 for 2 nights 4 people and this was a fantastic deal compared to what other hotels were charging. You need a car if you want to stay here. They had fridge dishwasher and washing machine. No iron but an ironing board. Plates cutleries and pots and pans

Children’s beds not setup for late check in
We arrived very late around 10.30pm as a stop on the way to Cornwall. With two young children, we asked twice (including calling ahead 45 min before arrival) to ensure the cot and small bed were setup. We were assured this would be done. Get in the room with two very tired children who then proceeded to wake up as we had to get the beds setup in the dark. A terrible nights could have been avoided if the beds were setup like they were promised.

I had booked a stay in the clubhouse at Fingle Glen but was ‘upgraded’ to a lodge due to the fact they had no heating. There was no WiFi in the lodge and I was unable to use the television although they did try to remedy this. The lodge was comfortable but the lack of WiFi which I was not aware of was disappointing.

Very small site. Few of the lights didn’t have light bulbs, no towels as had to go buy towels for our stay and also toilet paper. We had a mop bucket but no mop, the saucepans and oven trays were dirty and scraped.
