Terrific hosts
Connor and Anthony are terrific hosts, friendly, attentive and easy-going, and obviously keen to make theTayleur Arms a thoroughly relaxing place to be. The breakfast sausages (always a key indicator!) were sensational, indeed the whole cooked breakfast was outstanding. Thank you for your hospitality fellas.

2/10 Poor

Avoid like the plague.
Arrived at the Tayleurs Arms and was handed a key and told to head out the back, I had to ask to be shown where to go and what room we were in. The room had rubbish visible under the bed, some of the furniture had been left in the middle of the room. Room smelled horrific when we went in and when I went into the ensuite I was nearly sick. The smell of sewerage was overwhelming. When I went to tell the owner he said it was a known issue and they didn't know how to fix it and it was probably due to pooling of waste from the other toilets under our bathroom. We weren't offered another room We ordered breakfast and sat down in the bar area and ordered hot drinks only for the owner to come and tell us that his husband the chef had had a strop and wasn't cooking so we would have to find somewhere else for breakfast. Instead of an apology, he went on to tell us how appalling his day was going. We were offered my daughters hot chocolate as compensation. On the surface, this place is lovely. But avoid at all costs.

Warm and welcoming
The Tayleur Arms was amazing. The pub itself was large warm and very welcoming from the locals and especially the owners Antony and Conner. The rooms were warm, cozy and clean. Supplied a with toiletries, teas, coffees and plenty of nibbles. I would definitely recommend staying here and will be booking again.

We arrived at 7:30pm and there was no food being served. Breakfast was an individually wrapped croissant and a small carton of juice. Room was clean and comfortable but walls are thin and we were awakened at 5am by other guests banging on doors and packing up.The staff were very friendly and kind but overall the experience was a little disappointing.

Had a lovely midweek stay at the Tayleur Arms. The room was lovely and cosy, lots of selection of snacks in the room. The gentleman behind the bar Connor was very accommodating to our needs, he was well mannered and very good at his job he went above and beyond to cater for us. Absolutely amazing service the breakfast was lovely and fresh. Would recommend to anyone in the area, will be returning.

Poor Breakfast provision
Grounds untidy and garden overgrown.Cobweb between furniture. Breakfast included is very basic and not replenished unless you ask. Breakfast provisions left in the room consisted of three tired pieces of fruit and crossiant in a prepacked plastic bag.

Spider phobia is traumatic
My first room, bathroom was dirty, zink with some hair and visible dirt, bin lit dusty, toilet not flushed, I thought I would pull up with that with non touch techs, worse part was being surounded by spiders, they were crowling on the bathroom wall and hanging, back to the bedroom, lots of spoderwebs and spiders on the wall, scary and disgusting, had to get the room changed, lovely and friendly staff, but those rooms are not checked and damp dusted before guests arrival. My second room, traumatic, couldn't sleep due to spiders, I was scared all night, watching them moving around to make sure they not coming to me, unfortunately I am scared of them, this time they were not many but 2 big ones from the pillows as I touched the pillows, they moved to the wall ,thankfully this room was twin bed, I change the bed and sat by the bottom all night. The bed side lambs were webby with small looking dead spiders. Water was cold, I could not get it warm so lots of water wasted hoping for the desired temp while wathing dusty bin. I saw kids there, I was worried that they may be bitten by spiders. I also didn't like wrinkled duvet covers. I liked their breakfast set up, staff are lovely but rooms are inhabitable. I will never step there again due to spiders.

Wasn’t clean, the packet breakfast in the room was all out of date, it was damp and mouldy, it smelt of damp, the bed was damp from the moisture in the building and the carport was really grubby and dirty.

Comfortable beds, storage space and bathroom facilities adequate, but sink plug chainbroken and shaving light not working. Shower could be cleaner. Booked with continental breakfast. When we arrived breakfast was laid out with croissant, fruit (needed washing) and biscuits. No plate, knife, butter, jam, cheese or ham. The following days we had to collect everything from the bar each night. No clearing away as there was no room service at all. For three days we had only one waste bin for everything in room and bathroom. Could have been organised much better. Cooked breakfast only available Saturday and Sunday. Restaurant food excellent but expensive. Staff were friendly and as helpful as they could be

4/10 Fair

Didn't receive the service that we paid for
On check-in we were told that the restaurant wasn't open on that particular day, although they were helpful in booking an alternative. The room was booked for two adults and a child but the second bed wasn't made up. This was resolved when we mentioned it. The booking included breakfast and we confirmed with the staff member that breakfast was in the bar starting from 0830. The next morning we were up at about 0630 but waited around for breakfast as it had been confirmed. We went to get breakfast at 0840 but the bar was closed up and all the lights were off. We telephoned the number in the room but there was no answer, we left messages but there was no response, so in the end we left and got breakfast elsewhere as we had to be somewhere. A couple of days later we telephoned to complain that we did not receive the service that we paid for and were told that there was a continental breakfast in the room including pastries, which there was not. There was just the usual tea/coffee, biscuits and two cartons of juice and two alpen bars, so not enough for three people and no consideration for allergies. We were told that someone would give us a call back but unsurprisingly that never happened. The bathroom had mould on the ceiling, hand towel was threadbare with holes in it and the window in the room would not lock. Overall this hotel is probably ok if you just want a bed and nothing else but don't expect any sort of service.
