We found this hotel brilliant for location - Lego land. Hands on science & coral reef. Meals were good and plenty of choice. Rooms clean and staff helpful . I would say the breakfast and bar area is cramped when busy. And it was very busy on the Saturday night.

Staff were welcoming and answered all my questions with ease. Parking and charging on site was simple, the gym was well equipped and the restaurant had a great choice, good staff and high quality. I had nothing to complain about for a one night business trip it was ideal.

We stayed as part of a visit to Reading Festival. Receptionist was super friendly and helpful. I spoke to her before our stay and she was helpful on the phone answering questions I had. She also recognised my booking when we arrived! All the facilities were good and we enjoyed breakfast. Good location. Starbucks attached to hotel, Sainsbury's over the road. Also recommend nearby South Hill Park Arts Centre to watch a film and we used nearby shopping centre TheLexicon.

10/10 Exceptional

Automated self check-in was great with a little help from the girls at reception. Stayed in a Club Room which comes with free parking, gym access and was very clean and tidy but no bigger than a normal room in any other hotel. Very busy hotel as it has a fitness gym on site for locals to use. Food and beer a little pricey but was a modern and comfortable place to eat. Breakfast was excellent. Would stay again

Staff were attentive and helpful. The room was clean and looked after. There was a bit of a musty smell in the bathroom but I'm sure it was just a drain smell. I'm sure if it was raised with staff it would have been sorted. Bed was comfy.

4/10 Fair

The room was clean, however the air conditioning did not work, the window was broken and couldn't be opened, and there were no UK plug sockets by the beds meaning it was not possible to plug in necessary medical equipment over night. Plus the room was boiling hot all night.

The breakfast was tasty and fresh. Room was clean and staff were friendly and helpful.

10/10 Exceptional

Great gym, nice pool, good breakfast and a nice English breakfast. Everything was great apart from not having a direct access to train/bus station (bus connection from nearby still OK), and the view from the window wasn't the prettiest. Excellent value.

4/10 Fair

I chose Village Hotel because I knew what to expect - or so I thought. I found it really disappointing that on arrival we were told we didn't have breakfast when we definitely did have it included. Parking is additional cost and the use of the pool had strict times for children. I think it's poor to advertise as a base for places like Legoland and Chessington where they know families will be out all day to then not be able to use the pool of an evening. I was disappointed and it has put me off the Village chain.

6/10 Good

Great room , bed perfect. very quiet , great A/C, Bathroom could have been a bit cleaner ( attention to detail - previous occupant's hair grips were on the floor). Biggest let down was Breakfast. very transport cafe. Staff seriously struggling to keep up with turnover of customers .
