Harper’s Topiary Garden is a collection of over 50 topiaries at a private residence in San Diego. Edna Harper is the artist behind the pruners. Her travels to gardens around the world inspire many of the shapes you'll see on your vist to her home.
The garden is one of the most unique places to see in San Diego. The plants grow on the side of a hill, so the topiaries appear to be standing at attention from their stadium seat.

Harper’s Topiary Garden highlights
The place is a little out of the way, but it is also easy to access as it is just on the side at the end of the street. It is fun to see either in the day or in the evening as the sun is setting. Some of the topiaries are shaped as a rabbit, whale, elephant, chicken, dog, and cat
The Harpers have been maintaining the property in this fashion for over 15 years. They have carefully trained their bushes to the shapes you'll enjoy.

There is a sign that insturect you not to touch the hedges. This is a private residence, so remember to be respectful by adhering to the owner's request and not being too loud while visiting. The garden is a great idea to view with your kids.
The visit to Harper's Topiary Garden will be a quick one. There are other sites in the area that make the trip worthwhile. Spruce Street Suspension Bridge, Little Italy, and Whaley House Museum are nearby places to see.
