Things to see on the Upper West Side

This district is one of the safest in the city, and is less hectic than its counterparts in downtown Manhattan despite being just a few minutes’ ride away on the subway. How to get to the Upper West Side


The closest airport to the Upper West Side is LaGuardia, from where visitors can take the Q70 bus to connect to New York’s subway system. If you're arriving into JFK Airport and Newark, you can catch the AirTrain to the subway. You’ll also find plenty of taxis and shuttle buses at all 3 airports for more direct travel to the Upper West Side. There are 6 subway stations in the neighborhood, which is also served by 5 MTA bus routes. Finally, the famous yellow New York cabs are in plentiful supply and provide easy access to the city.
