Stay in Colchester

Nice hotel on the outskirts of Colchester with easy access to the town and Ipswich. The room was nice but was very dusty on the curtains behind the chairs and lots of our spider webbing in the corners. Shower was hot and powerful enough and the breakfast was 4 out of 5.

Stopover

The hotel was ideal as a stop-over on our way to London. It provides good access from and to the A12. It was good value for money. The staff where hospitable and the room was clean and comfortable providing well for our quick stay.

There was nothing to like. the cleanliness of the common areas was well below par. the cleanliness of the bathroom left much to be desired and the carpets were not hoovered. The room was not serviced at all during our three night stay,.No dining available on Sunday evening, about which we were not aware. Breakfast choice was abysmal. This was an experience not to be repeated.

Good accommodation

Warm welcome from reception, Room comfortable and clean, bathroom fan a bit noisy as it runs continuously all night, duvet a bit heavy for the weather. Breakfast OK, but nothing special. Good to have a car charger on site for a top up. Would use chain again.

The roadworks on the motorway that take you to the exit junction are horrendous, stay in the left lane as soon as your map's tell you it's approaching. I had to come off and go back on myself, glad the bar was open when I arrived!

This hotel was absolutely fine though it didn’t have air conditioning there was a fan in the room. Breakfast was fine ( buffet) . The only issue I had was that there was no discount on the electric car charger for guests.

Dreadful. DIY checkin and checkout, what’s the point of staff? Dirty bathroom with blocked sink. Car park riddled with potholes. Ground floor windows easily accessible from outside.

Great stay!

We were welcomed as we stepped inside by Jess on reception. We asked for a front facing room & she obliged. The hotel has a really nice interior as you walk in. Very inviting. Our room was clean and comfortable with a good shower over bath. Nice & quiet. We ate dinner in the restaurant it was hot and very tasty & fairly priced. A nice bar & lounge. Very relaxing & comfortable throughout. We slept well & had breakfast though we only wanted toast but there was hot stuff if you wanted. Coffee machine did a nice latte. Glad I found this little gem. Shout out to Amber who served our meal & again Jess. Both friendly & efficient a credit to the hotel.

Reasonably priced but basic room. Comfortable bed. No staff on reception so made things difficult. Only one bath towel, not enough milk and the lights in the room were either on or off ( no central light) so couldn’t read without disturbing my husband. No power points next to bed to move rather dodgy lamp to.

10/10 Exceptional

We had a very nice overnight stay. The hotel decor was welcoming, warm and bright, and all staff were friendly and professional. The beds were fresh, clean and comfortable and the bathroom was very clean. The shower was powerful and hot and there were toiletries provided if needed. We brought our own hairdryer and there didn't appear to be one provided in the room. The heating was efficient and easily adjusted. There was a large selection at the continental breakfast buffet, and the cooked breakfast was hot and fresh, with good quality bacon and sausages. Our only slight criticism was that the breakfast tables were painted wood with no covering and did not appear as clean as they could be. Tea/coffee stains on the table tops and dust in the grooves around the edges detracted from the otherwise lovely, bright breakfast room. The paper menus were also food/drink stained and could easily be replaced. Overall we thought The Dragonfly was a great, reasonably priced hotel for our overnight stay and we would stay there again.

Overall very good value for money

Staff were helpful and friendly. The room was comfortable. The cooked breakfast could have been better and also the coffee but overall very good value for money. My only gripe was the internet access which you can only access by filling in a form with a lot of personal details that you must agree can be used by others for marketing. There was no opt out option. So I decided to do without. I feel that internet access should not come with added price/conditions.

Disappointed from lonfon

Where do I start!! The room was comfortable enough although apart from hanging space had no drawers for clothes etc. Then we were told when we went yo book an evening meal the restaurant was close due to no staff, but were reliably informed this would not affect breakfast. How wrong they were. 1 member of staff cooking, serving, clearing, answering the phone. So food was short waiting was long, all in all unhappy customers. This was then repeated the next day!!!

2/10 Poor

Do not stay in this hotel total rubbish,

Location ok , interior design looks ok , but room is horrible, no TV remote, shower works like a dripping leak, toilet flush to refill takes about 20 minutes, and we were told to order dinner by 8 pm as the restaurant close at 8.30pm .felt pressurised. Total rubbish place, you check in about 7 pm and have to rush to have dinner, because on Saturday they had a group having booked some kind if a dinner party, felt you are second . Ended up having mcdonalds at the end. I want you to refund my money and give it to a charity of my regular choice.Totak Rubbish place.I still have the receptionist writing the room number card, ended up tapping the wrong room. !!.I am person who travel and stayed in hotels around the world, this is something
