I know the area quite well as we lived in Reading for a number off years, there's good walking, lots of small roads to explore, take a drive and you'll find quite a number of country pubs that offer good food, there's a couple of unique shops in Hook

Not a lot of local attractions, but for a short stay the hotel has everything you need. We took a taxi to a local pub for dinner, which was lovely. Taxi ride was £15 each way. Remember to book taxi's as there aren't a lot in the area.

Hook is a nice expanding village with a few supermarkets, café and pubs.
"If you like bling this is not for you. However, if you like the idea of a grade 2* listed country house in 35 acres of parkland with a tennis court, pickleball and croquet lawns give this some serious thought. Rooms are great with comfortable beds, hotel is full of character and history and the staff are really efficient, friendly and helpful"
"The staff were lovely and very helpful, the food was really good and priced really well too, breakfast was also nice. Will be looking to stay again when I’m back in the area next. "
"Beautiful hotel. Very pleasant, helpful and efficient receptionist.
Club Lounge lovely with excellent selection of snacks and drinks. Very relaxing after travelling. "
