Faded glory
My wife and I held our wedding reception at Tylney Hall 29 years ago and it was fantastic. In the years that followed we stayed several times and were usually very impressed. We decided to celebrate our anniversary with a suite in the main building for one night. It was extremely spacious with a lovely view but for the price (over £400) it is not nearly smart enough and lacked 'mod cons'. The overall feeling was dated and in some places actually quite shabby. Time has moved on and has left rooms like this behind, but not in a good way. For example, there is a jacuzzi bath but the shower is underwhelming with just average power and an old fashioned shower head - no rainfall shower here. The walls in the lounge had plenty of dings in them and the window frames were mostly rotten and draughty - some would not close properly. TVs in the lounge and bedroom but small and not smart. One of the worst examples of the lack of customer friendly facilities was the bedside lights which were very bright and could only be on at the same time as the very bright overhead LED spotlights. One switch controlled all these from just one side of the bed. Premier Inns are better than this. We had excellent vegetarian food in the restaurant but in the bar when I asked for a glass of Chardonnay, I was told they didn't have any. When asked for nibbles to go with the drinks, olives were offered and these appeared on our bill at check costing £8! I wouldn't stay again until the rooms are updated.

Beautiful Hotel, Shame about Room Allocation
Beautiful hotel with many lovely facilities. The grounds are stunning. As I was staying with my daughter and her children (6 & 1) we were required to stay in a junior suite as the hotel won’t allow the small travel cot and camp size bed to be added to the standard rooms, despite these rooms being quite large. When booking I expected to be in a junior suite in a courtyard/garden however our room was on the second floor with no lift, this was not ideal with young children. Overall the stay was lovely but more thought should be given when allocating rooms to families with small children.

Great stay all in all
All in all, a great well rested break. Good points: Situated on beautiful grounds in the Hampshire countryside. Pristine gardens and very nice walks. Outdoor swimming pool is perfect if you have sun in the sky. Heated pool in a beautiful spot surrounded by greenery and the mansion. Drink and food service available. Food in the Oak room is pricey but very good. Not so great points: attracts a much elderly crowd (my girlfriend & I were by far the youngest and felt slightly out of place!) Outdated rooms - bed was small and placed in a weird part of the room. Old creaky furniture and nothing standout what so ever about the room (we were number 34 in the mansion) Drinks are far too expensive. Your taking £6 + for a Peroni / £12 for an Aperol and then they charge service on top of each drink which you get a massive bill for at the end. All in all a great spa which certainly suits its 4* status. It could be 5* if they spent some money on the place as it’s very old and outdated !
