Absolutely a great surprise!
I was a little skeptical about the room size but it actually was pretty comfortable for me as a solo traveler. The hotel itself is charming … one of those little places you feel like coming back to because it has such a unique feel. It's hard to explain … it just has a great vibe to it. If you are looking for modern and trendy … look elsewhere. This feels like something which belongs in Paris in the 1950s or 60s. It really does have the feel of a shrunken grand hotel with elaborate moldings, marble bathroom and fine linens. It might be a bit old fashioned for some folks, but if you appreciate a classic hotel vibe, it's for you. The rainfall shower might have been one of the best I've ever experienced in a hotel. It's like being under a waterfall … if you like strong showers with great water pressure, you'll love it. The staff here was incredibly friendly … it seems that in cities often you get an undertrained or prickly staff. Here at The Marlton, the staff is young but engaging and helpful. (hello late checkout!) The breakfast which was included I would probably skip the next time around and find something in the city. It was on the small side and included a couple bite sized pastries or bowl of oatmeal. I'd much prefer paying for avocado toast or eggs and bacon. The coffee was world class though! The lobby has a cozy and worn in vibe, however be aware that the neighborhood loves this spot so on weekends, you might not be able to find a seat. The fireplace is great!

Hottest Lobby in New York City
The Marlton is a fabulous conversion of one of the old-time transient hotels that used to populate Greenwich Village. Rooms are tiny, but perfectly well-appointed. When you're not out and about, you'll want to spend your downtime in the hotel's beautiful and spacious lobby. A fully staffed coffee bar and fireplace make it the perfect place to work on that novel -- or catch up on your email. While the hotel makes every effort to save prime space for guests, the lobby and bar can get extremely crowded by locals, especially on weekend nights or cold days (the fireplace!!). That said, you know you're in the right place when there's such demand for a seat by both guests and locals.

DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL!!!
The worst experience I have ever had in my life! This hotel is like a prison size room, broken shower, the water keep on going back to cold, cannot control room temperature, hotel staff are really not kind, elevator takes forever and breakfast is pure! I can go on...but I think you got the picture...

Favorite hotel in the Village
In the heart of Greenwich Village, near shops, NYU, restaurants and old NYC neighborhoods. Tiny, tiny rooms but very comfortable. Only downside no workout room.

Quintessentially NYC and wonderful location
The good stuff: Comfortable, affordable, very clean, tasty restaurant open late, great linens and mostly very kind staff. The Not-so-good: Teeny weeny rooms, noise in halls can get loud, comp breakfast has limited options, some staff members are not interested in hospitality, and the lobby has a gaggle of students on computers. If you can get past the few downsides, The Marlton provides a charming and fun Village experience.
