You get what you pay for
Heat and hot water was out for two days prior to our arrival. Only one elevator was working and it was a 10 minute wait every time you needed to go back to your room. We used the stairs and we were on the 10th floor so it was a trek. Saw various bugs in our room which was unsettling. But, you get what you pay for. So for $150 a night in timea square during the holidays I wasn't expecting glamour.

WORST STAY EVER
DO NOT STAY at this hotel. Read the reviews! No heat, no warm water, electricity blows when using the space heater which was their only pathetic accommodation. Dirty! Noisy. Non-responsive staff. Cold air coming in from unwinterized window air conditioner unit. Terrible lighting, water from shower floods bathroom floor. No wonder you can only book as non-refundable. Then, there's No way to change rooms last minute anywhere in the city and didn't want to be out $900! Hotels.com should remove it from their listing or do more to get refunds after customers complain.

Would never stay here again.
Not a good experience! The rooms had mold (windows, shower, and room floor boards), no A/C or heater, and extremely small. Elevators took incredibly long, and mid stay one elevation was out of commission (only two elevators total). Shower backed up and we had to get maintenance…and heater transformer was bad, so no heat on very cold days. Boiler also went out on entire building, no hot water on one day of stay.

8/10 Very good

Pricey but good.
Small but okay room, excellent beds, elevator took long to come, maid very nice, no breakfast but plenty of places around where you could get food, very pricey for what you get but that’s because of the location. Super easy to walk to the hotel after our Broadway show.

Over Priced and Under Delivered
Air conditioning unit filthy and dust caked. Controls didn’t work right. No hot water in shower one morning. Television remotes in second bedroom didn’t work, even different one grumpy night desk guy gave us. Towel rack falling off the wall. Ceiling in second bedroom collapsing and appeared to be moldy. Some room lights didn’t work. Everything in room seemed worn down and needed replacing. Positive is great location. Maid and front desk check in folks very nice. But definitely not worth the price we paid per night.

They gave us one wash cloth one day an said they had a shortage of them.. we went to the front desk they said they would credit our account a they were sorry! Alot of people were complaining an miserable with the stay!

Perfect location
We stayed at this hotel during our trip to New York, and the best thing about it was the location. It was in walking distance to everything, which made getting around the city super convenient. Another great perk was that we arrived early and were able to check in and get our room right away. However, there were a few downsides. The room was very small, though that wasn’t a big issue for us. The main problems were with the temperature control—it was uncomfortably hot during the first two nights and then too cold for the last couple of nights. Additionally, we didn’t have hot water for a shower one of the mornings, which was frustrating. Overall, while the location and early check-in were excellent, the inconsistent temperature and lack of hot water impacted our stay. Does this align with what you’d like to say?

Although the hotel is very convenient to Times Square and the Rockefeller Center it didn’t have any amenities. The hot water tank was out one morning. The elevator is so small and although there were 2 only one was working. The day we were leaving we had to take the stairs with our luggage because we couldn’t get an elevator. They were jammed packed whenever it stopped on our floor.

I'm Not Going Back
I've added The Gallivant to my "no stay" list. The room was tiny and in bad shape (chipped woodwork, chipped paint on the walls, dirty windows). The shower was miserable: there was a pane of glass over half the stall, and the other half of the staff was empty. Was this supposed to be trendy and chic? The bathroom floor flooded every time I took a shower. The sign said there were ice machines on the 15th and 10th floors: the machine on the 15th floor was dead and in fact there was no ice machine at all on the 10th floor. Only two tiny elevators for 16 floors? I had to wait 10 minutes for an elevator. On the day I checked out, one of the elevators appeared to be not working (it was stuck on the 3rd floor). For $388 per night, I expected better than this mess. I'm not going back.

Not my choice in the future.
No access to thermostat in our room. Hotel halls dirty, undergoing renovations but truly a mess. No hot water in the building day of departure so no showers. Elevators slow and inadequate! Location for Broadway good and the staff was trying all doing their best in hard conditions.

Be prepared to wait for elevator
Most expensive hotel we've ever stayed at in NYC. Paid over $1000 fro 2 nights. It was NYC marathon weekend so maybe that's why. Wait for the one elevator was extremely long-took over 20 minutes to go and back down every time. Door would make huge noise every time it was opened and door lock on inside was half off and dangling. On a plus, location was convenient - very central to theaters and bus station (Penn). Friendly and courteous staff.
