Pros:
• Convenient location to Underground (transportation) & tourist stuff
• Nice interior design of hotel, including room
• Doormen are very nice & helpful, especially Pascal
• Staff is attentive
• Bed is firm (could be a negative for some)
• Nice bathroom tub faucet and sprayer, has ceiling-mounted “rain” shower-head
• Staff will call you daily to see if all is ok; I found this nice, but disruptive to me (I requested they not call me)
Cons:
• Restaurant is highly overpriced (English breakfast is $68, and unremarkable)
• Bathroom lighting is extremely bad; strong down-lights, a show-stopper for women putting on make-up or if you want to see how you look before you go out
• Upon arrival, they disclose that they are automatically charging you a discretionary $20 per-day service charge for front-of-house staff; the fee is optional, but most will not go through the effort to have them reduce or remove the fee (this is another way for them to increase revenue)
• E-mailed a question to Guest Experience Manager regarding directions, and it took her over a week to receive a reply; I had returned from London by then
• Room maintenance is poor; air-conditioning was broken in room, sink clogged, and light bulbs burnt-out (Housekeeping should be monitoring condition of room instead of burdening guests to report and witness maintenance)
• Paying extra for a view of the Royal Mews was a waste and a determent; you face a busy noisy street, and you can see virtually nothing of interest
