Very old-fashioned style - no technology from recent decades. Good restaurant and good service
The Inn was vey eclectic and our room was quaint. The food was fantastic as well as the service. We parked across the street and our car was broken into. The Hotel was very helpful in providing video footage. I found the only negative was the Political undertones. Businesses should stay neutral.
The hotel's architecture is beautiful however there are no real amenities. We had to go to the front desk for a hair dryer. There is no elevator and our room was up 4 flights of stairs. There was no room service though they might have been due to Covid...it would have been nice to have a coffee maker in our room instead of going down to the bar to purchase coffee in the morning. The bathroom had a floor with a toilet and a drain for the overhead shower to drain into. There was no barrier between the toilet and the shower such as a bathtub, a shower door or curtain. The floor was wet after our showers. The bed is a memory foam but was rediculously firm to the point that it hurt when you laid down on it first the first time. Both my husband and I were in pain this next morning. The food in the restaurant was not worth the price. I would have eaten somewhere else had I known. I am from the area and have always wanted to stay here. This visit was for our anniversary and I am sorry I wasted it there.
If you're into cookie cutter Hiltons and Sheratons, this might not be the place for you. However, if you're after something memorable, this place is definitely unique. It's a bit like an eccentric art lover's city mansion with every inch of wall space filled with art of all genres and slightly battered antique furniture in abundance. The room was done out in "batty old maiden aunt is preparing for a seance" style, with a bathroom so old it could be a museum exhibit. However everything was very comfortable and in working order, the staff were lovely, and the restaurant was really high quality. This will definitely be my first choice for future DC visits. I was fine without a tv in the room (the wifi is excellent), but anyone with limited mobility might find the absence of an elevator a challenge.
We chose the Tabard Inn to stay in during our daughter’s wedding. We had three rooms, two for family and one for the bride and groom after the wedding. The staff was so helpful both before the wedding and afterwords, it was amazing. Next time we are in DC, we are definitely staying at the Tabard Inn.
Off the beaten path but near everything you would want.
We really enjoyed our stay in this historic property. The room was spacious and clean. We had a noisy neighbor one night and when we mentioned it to the front desk, the issue was quickly address and resolved -- kudos on the excellent customer service. Overall a great experience and we'll definitely consider staying again.
The staff is really amazing, everyone is so friendly, they make you feel at home.
THis is a niche hotel, it's very old and not handicapped accessible. The pictures make it look much newer than it is. It's got a musty smell. It's very eclectic with lots of interesting art work. The first room they gave me was very closed in feeling and smelled mildewy. When I went to the desk to inquire about cancelling my stay she offered me a different bigger room. This room required us to go up at least 6 floghts of stairs. Upon arrival to the new room I noticed a flowery stale smell. We opted to stay in th esecond room that was bigger and had more windows. There was an eerie feeling in the room between haunted house and grandma's attic. The closet had a door in the back of it that made me feel like someone could get into our room. The floors were uneven and creaked. The room did not have a TV and was not as fresh as it could have been.
Felt like home. Unique place with its own vibe. I loved our master suite room. It was incredible.
