If you simply want a bed then unison’s, Not very clean, Electric points don’t work, Carper very grubby throughout. TV and curtain rail hanging off wall. Just a little attention to detail and this could be a nice place.

Comfortable bed & good location
The hotel is above a pub, which is no issue at all & check in was easy & the room was available early for us to drop off our bags. Although the photos show breakfast, there is none available. Apparently it was withdrawn over a year ago. The room was decent & the bed very comfortable. The shower was nice too. Would have been nice to have a working plug socket. My phone was on charge over night, only in the morning did I realise there was no power going to it. Some improvement to be made, but overall a decent stay.

Nice little place
The Manager is awesome. Will do anything to make your stay better. Be prepared for small rooms with a tiny staircase. Pros: comfy bed and quiet area. Convinient to busses to the City and Paddington Stn. AC works well. Cons: the rooms are tiny...

Great value for money- comfortable, clean, friendly staff, convenient and has charm. It's often complicated to find a good, basic room in London for a reasonable price: highly recommend this one.

Would not recommend
Not what you expect. There was no reception in the morning and half the time there was no one to answer questions regarding the hotel stay and services. The building was cramped and not cleanly. The room had build up of dirt in crevices, on the remote, and phone.

We got flea bites during our nights there. 4 flights of narrow stairs very difficult with luggage. Meal was good.

The staff was very friendly. The facilities weren’t impressive. Door handles broken, laundry in the hallway, marks on the walls, and concierge phone just keeps ringing. Wouldn’t recommend staying here.

6/10 Good

The room was up a rickety set of spiral stairs which was not built for carrying suit cases up. The stairs were dusty and unkempt. The room was basic, with the curtains hanging off the rails. Generally speaking no body paid attention to the details. The morning after our arrival, dogs or cats/foxes etc had opened up the rubbish bags stacked up outside of the pub and the rubbish was strewn across the path. We were also unable to contact the Duke using the phone number we had been provided with, to let them know we would be late due to a cancelled flight and only just arrived before everyone left for the day . The host did his best to be as helpful as he could but it did not make up for the general state of the room and getting to and from the room and the street up and down rickety stairs. The pub itself was far from being what we imagine a London pub to be and it completely lacked atmosphere and ambiance.

Ideal for a one or two night stay, no longer
Myself and two of my friends chose Duke Rooms to stay overnight as it was a 10 minute walk from Hyde park, where we were attending BST Festival. Easy to check in. Room was very small for three people but had everything we needed it for. Don't be fooled by the lack of bathroom doors, we were ready to get very comfortable with each other until we realised there's sliding doors into the wall haha. Relatively clean. One key card for three of us. Check out was not so easy. Online it says reception open from 7:30am, and we left at 8:30am and no one was there to check out with. I kept getting their voicemail when I called, so we ended up posting the key through the pub door and I left them a message but didn't get a response.

It’s your typical London hotel. Unless you pay over £150/night you can’t expect too much. The rooms are above the pub. I had one on the 3rd floor - no lift, narrow stairwell. Luckily I didn’t have much luggage. The room has air con which was a necessity in London this week. The room is ok and the bed comfortable but it’s not spotless and could do with a refresh. The fire alarm went off in the evening. No idea what that was about. The phone in my room wasn’t working. The window has got a gap so it wouldn’t be ideal in the winter. There’s a space under the door so light from the corridor comes through. If you’re ok to sleep with an eye mask and ear plugs (the road below is not busy but it’s London), and if you don’t have much luggage it’s ok for a night. Right next to Edgware Road and bus stops so very convenient.

2/10 Poor

Poor dirty hotel - avoid.
Unfriendly check-in rude checkin to a dirty pub and poor deco, smashed locks and shattered glass between pub and rooms. TV not tuned in - remote control broken, filthy staircase with used sheets and ironing board stored on stairs. Another broken door on the stairs leaning against a wall. Wish I had not booked this hotel, unfortunately no hotel accommodation elsewhere. How did this hotel get exceptional e Rating on HOTELS. COM - scam - must be being fixed..
