Brussels and related destinations

Waffles aren't just breakfast here – they're an art form, best enjoyed while admiring La Grand Place's gilded guildhalls that seem almost too ornate to be real. The Manneken Pis statue proves even national monuments can have a sense of humour. Duck into the Musical Instruments Museum where vintage saxophones and strange medieval contraptions await behind an Art Nouveau façade. The Royal Museums of Fine Arts houses Flemish masterpieces that make art history textbooks come alive. Chocolate shops offer free samples with such casual generosity you'll wonder if they've miscalculated their profit margins. After dark, tiny pubs serve hundreds of beer varieties, each in its own specially shaped glass – a ritual bartenders take very seriously indeed.

"Nice clean hotel a short walk from the centre of the old town. Close proximity to shopping and dining options. Friendly staff very willing to help. Very limited food options within the hotel, particularly if you arrive late. Only breakfast is served and the Bar has some minimal food service, supposedly till 11 or midnight. When we were there the chef had left by 10 and we were directed to go a couple of blocks away to a pedestrian area with some options there. Would probably stay there again but would now know what to expect."

Cardo Brussels, Autograph Collection

8/10 Good
"The staff and hospitality are top-notch, seriously a 10 out of 10. We stayed one night in a family suite on the 25th floor. The room is super stylish and has everything we need, but the bedsheets and air ventilation might need a good steam clean. I had a terrible allergic reaction to the dust in the room, even though I usually don't react so intensely. It would be better if they did a good clean-up. There was a mix-up where the reception team gave the same keys to another family. They ended up opening our door, but the housekeeper team quickly fixed it. However, the team also canceled our keys without telling us. It would be better to have a heads-up next time. Everything else is good. Hopefully, they can clean up the aircon system to make it perfect."

"Loved the stay, the rooms were nice and clean, the staff was great, and the roof top bar was a nice find for great views of the city. The hotel is a very short walk from the Central station and right behind Grand Place making it super convenient. The food & beer choices at their restaurant could have been better given the options around but not too bad either. All in all loved the hotel and would go back if in that area."
