Exceptional 10.0
Great hotel for the creative class!
Cool hotel with great restaurants and public areas to work/chill in. Excellent rooftop bar, Simon & The Whale restaurant is great with a great bar too. Rooms are smallish, but kept very clean and beds are very comfortable. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Would definitely stay here again.

Exceptional 10.0
Beautiful hotel and cool atmosphere!
One of the coolest hotels I have ever stayed in! The common areas were beautiful, and the food & drinks we had at the various restaurants and bars was delicious. The games room is a really fun and nice touch. Shame the rooftop wasn´t open yet, but we loved everything else about this hotel. Great staff, amazing atmosphere, excellent location (just 1 block from the nearest subway) and the rooms were a really good size too (we had views of the Chrysler from our window!). The bed was super comfy as well.

Business Bunks?
A group of us were traveling for business and had 6 individual rooms booked and upon check in they tried to put all 6 people in a bunk room. When told everyone was to have their own rooms they still tried pairing people up. Luckily they had enough rooms available to accommodate everyone but it was just a strange occurrence considering the rooms were booked for 6 individuals. Once everyone was settled, everything else went totally fine.

Stay at ACE hotel instead
Everything about the hotel screams "Budget" except for the overpriced rooftop bar and attached restaurant. We stayed in the corner king, essentially the best room you can get at the Freehand.Despite that, the upgrade was worthless: - Toilets are small, awkwardly close to the wall, and low to the ground - No vents in bathroom (enjoy a steamy hotel room) - Noise - Mini-fridge is extremely small. You actually can't fit a regular sized bottle of water in the fridge - $18 cocktails and $15 beer (This is pricey even for NYC) - The doorman and cleaning staff are great, the front desk staff are not (pretty much ignore you) - Dark carpet is obviously dirty - They give you as few towels as possible - Stand up shower gets water everywhere and without a vent in the bathroom to help it evaporate, your bathroom is just wet This place benefits from "looking cool" but is honestly soulless, cheap, and not worth your team. Which I guess is the most NYC experience you could ask for.

Freehand NYC
Having previously enjoyed staying at the Freehand in Miami I choose to stay at their New York branch. However, overall the hotel was slightly disappointing. Although it had a number of good bars and restaurants and was in a good location, the rooms themselves were not great. There was very little storage space, and our shower flooded the bathroom floor every time we used it. Toiletries were not replaced and the room also seemed a bit shabby. Thankfully it didn’t detract from the stay, we just wouldn’t stay there again.
