Fun winter escape without kids
We enjoyed our stay with lots of pool time. Highlight: Entertainment crew made it fun and bar staff/servers were all super friendly and responsive, remembering people's names, drinks and bdays (we had 2 in our group). Housekeeping was also very responsive offering extra towels, checking if we needed anything. Everything was clean and comfortable. Location was great with proximity to airport so we could enjoy the resort even on our travel days. Nice: We could go to the 2 neighboring resorts and Riu Party had a bigger beach and more pools, also kayaks and such. But it wasn't very clear what events were happening when/where. Suggested improvements: Communicate the days' activities on signs, TV's or printed sheets - something. The app didn't work well so if we didn't hear about it organically, we missed things (like volleyball games and evening entertainment). Also the sit-down restaurants were very small, menus limited and service was slow. Not really complaining but we kinda burned out on the buffet (during our 5 night stay) and other options were limited.

The resort was very clean. My wife and I had a great time here. The staff is very pleasant, professional, attentive, hospitable, and friendly. Archer, the bartender, at the Aqua Bar was one of the highlights of our trip. He was great and fun to hang out with at the bar. The staff are the heroes of Riu Palace. They were excellent. The Riu Palace, while well maintained and very clean, is dated, so if fully updated and state of the art facilities are what you require, it may not be for you. For all others, it's a good resort and a good time.
