The Angel Hotel

The Angel Hotel

8/10 Good
"It was ok for what we paid. There is no AC but because it wasn’t hot outside, we were fine. I’m glad they provided a fan for air circulation. There were no outlets next to the bed on either side so we couldn’t have our phones next to us, which I guess is a good thing to stay away from screens. But an outlet would have been nice. It was good for one night and well located near places to eat."

Cardiff Marriott Hotel

8/10 Good
"Staff friendly and helpful however the rooms and overall feel of the hotel were a little dated. No amenity kit in the bathroom which was definitely in need of a refresh, although the "it works" products were lovely. The wifi was also very flaky. Could be because I was at the far end of the corridor but it should have been consistent everywhere. I didn't eat there so can't comment."

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Cardiff

  1. Book for the cheapest times: The most budget-friendly times to visit Cardiff are January, October, and December, when hotel prices are typically lower. For those looking to explore the city's key landmarks and cultural offerings, staying for at least 2 to 3 days is recommended. This duration allows visitors to fully appreciate attractions such as historic castles, engaging museums, and vibrant theatres, all while enjoying the friendly locals and the city's great dining options. With its mix of entertainment and shopping, Cardiff offers great value for money, making it an excellent choice for those on a budget.
  2. Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: To explore last-minute deals to Cardiff, begin by checking the DealsOpens in a new window or Last-Minute Deals sections on Hotels.com, where you may discover discounted hotel rates as your travel date approaches. Additionally, consider enabling email alerts or push notifications from Hotels.com to stay informed about flash sales and exclusive promotions, ensuring you don't miss potential savings. The Smart Shopping tool available via the app allows you to compare hotel prices and amenities, so if rooms become available or prices drop, you're more likely to see those changes first and secure your last-minute getaway.
  3. Be flexible with dates: Prices can fluctuate due to factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year, so being flexible with your travel dates may help you save on your stay in a Cardiff hotel. For those seeking a unique experience, boutique hotels can provide a more personalised touch and potentially better value. When you book through Hotels.com, we’ll inform you if the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price is on the higher side, we’ll suggest more affordable dates, which could help you secure a better deal.
  4. Consider your location: Hotels situated near the city centre usually tend to be more expensive, but thanks to Cardiff's superb public transport connections, you might discover a more affordable independent hotel a bit further out that remains well-connected. For those keen to explore alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often excellent value to be found. Opting for these alternative locations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
