A gem of a hotel
Little gem of a hotel, extremely convenient for the hospital. Didn’t think the £9 car park was too bad at all. Was a little concerned from reviews but this hotel exceeded my expectations in every way. I had a renovated room which was warm and comfortable with a lovely modern shower room. Service was excellent from check in to check out. Yes, the corridors were a tad tired but my room was fab. A very happy customer.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Bedroom was noisy as I could here couple in next room talking very clearly and then when having sex! No food available in evening as NO gluten free option at all.

Great value hotel near to city centre and universi
Great value hotel near to city centre and university. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The breakfast is basic but always cooked well with vegetarian sausage available. We have stayed here before and find it a good base to stay whilst we catch up with our son who is at the university. My only issue this time was the memory foam mattress took a while to remold after turning over in bed. I, personally, prefer a sprung mattress. Great shower pressure.

2/10 Poor

Do not be deceived by the photos! This hotel is not nice. It’s very dated. Had to keep calling reception for hot water in the shower. Needs a complete uplift and the staff were not the friendliest.

Very charming boutique hotel in the heart of the surrounding neighborhood of the University of Sheffield. Only downside is lack of a lift, but the rooms are clean and updated with modern appliances whilst still maintaining the old-world charm of the original building. I'd stay here again! Very nice, welcoming, and professional staff.

A Once Proud Hotel
We stayed one night so I could be at the hospital for an op at 7.00am. When checking in Alison on reception was really kind, telling my husband he could go back to the hotel and use their facilities even after check out. She even loaned us her own usb plug overnight so we could charge our devices. We have known the hotel for years, my husband went to King Edward’s school across the road, and I used to stay on business in the 1980’s and 90’s. We also held my husband’s 60th birthday party there 8 years ago. Sadly, it has gone downhill since then. A once delightfully presented and proud hotel has become shabby and neglected, no doubt a victim of Covid. It is still very clean and the staff are a credit to it, as they always have been. There is no doubt that it is kept in existence because of its’ position to the hospital, but it would be nice to see it back to being proud again.

Not good
The accommodation is dated and in need of a overhaul. The bed was shocking and uncomfortable. We were there for a hospital visit. Location is great. Breakfast wasn’t great.

Great hotel marred by unexpected parking fees
I like this hotel for its convenience to the university of Sheffield and to down town. It is an older hotel, so also has lots of character which I also like. The only downside I would say is the cost of parking. These costs should clearly be included on the booking website as it is an unwelcome surprise when you book a place and find that you have a much higher bill than anticipated.

Overall a good stay at this hotel, but deco was old and needing of replacement which staff mentioned to me is in the process of being done. For the money paid, it was fine for me. My room had a good shower and facilities.

This is an older building and looks like a maze! It will take a while to find the room. Carpet is quite old and could be upgraded. Bed was big and in okay condition. It was very close to U of Sheffield and very convenient for me. The price was also very affordable

Character Victorian hotel
Character Victorian hotel in lovely, leafy part of Sheffield near Broomhill. Friendly staff, excellent cooked breakfast with additional buffet items on offer. Lots of stairs will prepare you for Sheffield's 7 hills! Interesting collection of satirical 18th century prints by Hogarth near breakfast room, including Gin Lane. Plus an old-fashioned penny farthing bicycle on display.

Decades ago this was a first class hotel but time has told on it. It is virtually only a B& B now. I wouldn’t stay or recommend it
