You don’t even have to leave the resort there is so much to do and a ton of restaurants! The beach is beautiful and so are the pools!! We did the sea aquarium boat ride and that was the highlight of our trip for sure. The boat was a ton of fun, you got to snorkel with sharks and sting rays, and the staff were amazing!

The grounds and view from room were spectacular! The food quality was satisfactory. Overall, the staff were pleasant and welcoming, but service, like daily room cleaning or info on resort activities, was a hit or miss. The most disappointing thing was the junior suite room. The shower nor the separate room for the toilet had real doors! If you’re rooming with a family member or friend, this is not ideal. And on the last night, the ceiling started dripping water and there was no follow-up after I reported it. I ended up putting a bucket under the leak and emptying it out before I went to bed to ensure the floor didn’t get too wet and cause a safety hazard.

The resort is incredibly comfortable for families. The pool area, provides a variety of options, the beach is incredible, and they keep it pretty clean. It’s paradise. I didn’t want to leave. The only improvement is the experience around booking for dinner, I ended up having terrible schedules for my kids. However the amenities, and Spa quality, are those from a premium SPA, I would definitely travel to this hotel again. My experience advisor from Expedia was amazing in helping me figure out dinner booking, specially towards the end when everything had been booked.

I had an excellent stay. The buffet was one of the best I’ve seen, a ton of variety in classic Dominican food was a plus. Beach and pool were very clean. The resort is very well kept, modern, great option in stores if you need to grab anything you forgot to take. Staff was amazing— especially entertainment, David, made us feel at home during our stay. The resort is huge, so there is a lot of walking— take comfortable shoes for those walks to/from the rooms. Overall, I will give my stay 5 stars, I have no complaints and I had such a great time I will be returning to this hotel. I recommend it 100%.

The hotel is very large, elegant, and visually beautiful. The staff is extremely friendly and always willing to help with anything you need, which made the stay more enjoyable. However, the cleanliness of the rooms could definitely be improved. Another issue I noticed was a strong musty smell in some areas, such as the elevators and restaurants, which was unpleasant. Aside from these concerns, everything else was good and I had an overall positive experience.

The restaurants were fully booked every night, it wasn’t convenient to make reservations since they don’t allow reservations to be made while booking the vacation. We didn't get to try any of them except the steakhouse. The only times available (sometimes) were between 9:30-10:30 and they recommended going to see them periodically throughout the day to see if people had cancelled their reservations. We tried tha and there was barely cancellations but when we walked by the restaurants they weren’t crowded. When we finally got a a reservation to the steakhouse the food was cold and looked exactly like the food from the buffet. Other than that the resort itself was beautiful and had tons of fun at the pool and beach. Most of the staff was friendly. Resort is huge so a lot of walking!

The beach and pools are beautiful. The staff was professional and helpful. The family duplex room was clean and large enough for our family of 5. We did bring an air mattress because they do not do roll away beds for the duplex rooms and my sons are big teens who do not like to share a bed. Also, the family duplex rooms are in the furthest building from the pools and beach, so be prepared to walk a bit each day. They do offer a shuttle but it was a bit of a wait so we usually ended up walking. The food in the buffets was alright, not amazing but we all found something! The restaurants were great if you can get reservations (try as soon as you arrive!) The only issue we had was that there wasn't much to do after 7pm and our teens were a little bored with the sports bar or the nightly show/entertainment being the only options. There was bowling and video games for a fee, but the space was small and crowded. Bring some things for teens to do after dinner!

Took over 30 min for someone to finally help. They weren’t very clear on policies and instructions, especially for newbies. Food was ok, just edible enough so we weren’t hungry. Anytime we grabbed corn on the cob, it wasn’t cooked all the way and was very hard. Boat rentals were awesome! Water aerobics and zoomba were great and the staff was entertaining! I wish we got a rundown of the map better. We would have loved to rent a cabana on the adults only area but didn’t know it was there until the second to last day and they were all booked. If you want to watch any tv, bring a fire stick or something because we got maybe 2 English channels and we asked for help but no one came. Carlos was a great service to us though! From other frequent all inclusive resort go-ers, they said this was the best one they’ve been too!

Overall stay was ok - what made it better was the fact that we were Premier - and considered "special"....however i probably would not book this again. I wanted to make an honorable mention to Wanny at the premier reception desk - he was great in accommodating us to a better room. He truly helped us out! The rest of the staff specially in the buffet area looked like they were over it. They could be friendlier... they were NOT wanting to help or serve. One of the nights, we ran out of toilet paper and asked twice for it and no one ever came. We also had to ask twice for our room to be cleaned.. and again nothing. The kids club was good! my girls enjoyed going there in the afternoon. As premier we had access daily for free to The pirate ship waterpark - otherwise it was $10 per person per day... one good thing about the barcy club is that they do take the kids there once a day - so if you're not premier the kids would have access through the club.

The property overall seemed clean, our room was cleaned daily. The shower did have some moldy spots. There was an electrical outlet that was hanging out of the wall. The food was starting to taste like plastic towards the middle of the week. The buffet selection was the same every day. It would have been nice to have food carts or lunch grab and go spots around the pool so you didn’t have to go into the buffet for lunch. Drinks were plentiful and they never ran out of anything. People saving seats by the pool and never using the em was annoying. I became a member and was assigned a concierge who never helped with any of my requests. That was disappointing. I actually had two concierge representatives neither one of them were able to follow through with my request which were very simple. One was asking for extra towels and a washcloth that were never delivered. This is resort we will not revisit.

The property was fine, but there were a lot of issues. Pool tiles were broken and missing throughout the pool. The rooms weren’t the cleanest, and there was a sewage-like smell that we frequently experienced. Dining was a disaster, with reservations only being available from 10:45 pm or later, and only on the final days of our trip. We eventually were able to get a couple of reservations, but it took hours of discussion with guest services. The buffets were honestly some of the worst we’ve experienced in 17 years of going to the Dominican Republic. Aside from the food, there were long lines for everything and machines that regularly stopped working. Most of the staff were really nice, and tried very hard. There were a few folks, however, that were rude with very interaction throughout our stay. In the end, I had a nice time being on vacation, and it was great to see family, but I have no plans to return to this property on my next trip to the DR. Other Barcelo properties I’ve visited have been really good, but I can’t recommend this one, especially when there are so many other wonderful options in the area.
