Our room was clean and well-maintained, as was the bathroom. The staff was very friendly and helpful, with advice for how to manage our visit to Venice, use the public transportation, and restaurants to look for. Breakfast was more of the European style than we have seen in other hotels, (coffee, rolls, croissants, fruit, yogurt and cereals) but there was plenty of food available each day of our visit. The hotel was convenient to the train station and just a few steps from the public transportation. It was also an easy walk from many parts of the city, but we would recommend the Vaporetto to get to the Piazza San Marco. Overall a very pleasant stay for the price. Quaint and romantic. We would stay here again.
Location excellent. Easy walk from train station. Nice room. TV barely worked, no English station.
The staff is very nice and helpful. This is my second time there and still like it.
Quaint, older family run hotel. Staff friendly and helpful.
A very good priced hotel at great location and provides everything you need. The night shift reception is very nice (although he speak limited English but very helpful). Will stay here again if back to Venice. It is right next to train station so you don't have to drag your luggage on stone roads for long or get on & off water bus !!
Alberto (the owner) is a kind, patient, and charming man. We loved talking with him about life of a local. He spent so much time sharing places to eat and see that were not tourist traps. Others like that stuff but we avoid it which first brought us to choose this small, personal, hotel. Even the pet / mascot dog "Matisse" was friendly. Like most European hotels it is small, quiet, well maintained. Our en suite bath was completely modern. Toiletries are available but bring your own to be Green. The wifi worked great for us, but we only used it for travel docs, tickets, directions, etc - no streaming. If you are from USA do not expect rooms like a Hilton (AC/HBO/business center/lifts). You will need to walk up and down stairs. Even my 50 yr old knees had no trouble, though. I actually lost weight from walking all day while in Italy. When I couldn't work the safe, Alberto came and helped me reset and re-lock it. There is some street noise but I am a light sleeper and it didn't affect me and even stopped around 11pm anyhow. We used the train a lot and since it is a ten minute walk from door to door, the location for day trippers is also ideal. We brought our portable translator which helped us speak Italian with staff while Alberto was not on site. So, if these appeal to you, please support Hotel Caprer and Venezia in its time of difficulty. Ciao!
Great location and not far ftom the train station. Nice spacious room and hotel is down a lane so no noise from the main street. We had a wonderful stay!!
Small, low budget hotel. No lift but the stairs aren't too bad. Had some mosquitoes in my room; they provide repellants that worked pretty well. Pros: • Room is a decent size and was pretty clean but very basic. • Nice front desk guy. Early check in and luggage storage • Very closely located to train station Cons: • Squeaky floors and bed. Bed was very soft - you sink right down when you sit or sleep on it. • Door locks are very simple (doesn't autolock when you shut the door). • Have to leave your key at reception when you go out. Doesn't feel very secure because they have multiple reception people and they don't check if you're actually staying at the hotel when you ask for the key • Neighbours can be loud. There was an outdoor party going on nearby on a Saturday night that ended at midnight • Old windows - cold air leaks through, especially in the washroom • No A/C in room but they provide a fan
This property was an excellent location, 4 min from the train station and water taxi, great restaurants within feet of the hotel, friendly service, quiet, I will definitely go back. Breakfast in the morning was just enough to get you going. We walked to St Mark’s in about 30min and able to see Venice on foot. I would definitely recommend.
The staff was welcoming and friendly. A little difficult to find at first, but very convenient to airport water taxi, train station, shopping and restaurants.
