Good and bad
After arriving approximately 4 hours late due to train delays I was checked in by a polite young lady, the lifts were unreliable to get to my room and once I arrived in the room there was a strong odour of stale smoke. I called reception and they changed my room for another one, by this time it was around midnight and after an hour the room was chilly so I turned on the heating system, this was a big mistake for two reasons a) it was so noisy that it sounded like an engine running and was not effective at heating the room and b) because I couldn’t turn it off ! At around 3am I gave up and called reception to ask how could I turn it off, the receptionist told me how to. I then turned the heating system off and the only difference in the room was that it was no longer noisy. What would be very helpful would be an efficient heating system and also written instructions on how to use it i.e turn it off. To sum up: the reception staff were very polite and pleasant, same for breakfast staff. Room quality rather poor, heating system not heating the room and unusable even if it was heating up the room due to the noise, there was a very small portable fan heater I found hidden away on a low shelf as I was leaving which could also be a potential fire hazard. The breakfast was good with something for just about everyone, the coffee was terrible … Would I stay again ? Probably not due to lack of sleep caused by the noisy heating system and the fact that my room was too cold .
