This was our third visit to Venice and we picked CHC for easy in and out access to Santa Lucia station. We had a canal view room which was modern, mostly quite clean, and a good size for the price range. Hotel staff were efficient and friendly. The buffet breakfast was exceptional for Italy and could be taken on the canal terrace, weather permitting. The hotel was a very good choice. Our only bad experience was in the dining room on our last evening. We had one of their featured burgers when we arrived and it was excellent. Day three, we decided to have another. Both were served red, barely warm. My partner sent hers back, I tried to eat mine…couldn’t. The very callous waiter was rude and seemed unconcerned, telling me that in Italy you must say if you want well done. I didn’t realize that it was my responsibility and not his to describe the choices, or that my options were only raw or well done. The dining room was not busy, perhaps the quality of service and inconsistent kitchen were factors. Highly recommend the hotel, but there are countless other restaurant choices just steps away.
