We stayed at Scottish Fairway Inn during Monterey Car Week. It was great to find any rooms available in Seaside at all! That being said, every property of course upcharges because of the demand, so we paid about $500 for 1 night in a double queen room.
PROS: The property is in a great location, about 10 minutes drive to Cannery Row. The surrounding area seemed safe, and the property is in good condition. Slightly outdated but well kept. The beds were comfortable and most importantly, the room was CLEAN. Staff was friendly and we got checked in quickly. If I needed a budget motel in a pinch, I would stay here again.
CONS: Given that it was Monterey Car Week, I understand the room rates and we were happy to pay for the convenience and overall stay. However, to pay $500 for a room without air conditioner or a heater, in my opinion, was not great. It was about 72 degrees in Monterey that day, which is pretty warm for that area. Our room had no AC (or heater). It did have a ceiling fan, and the property provided a box fan which was appreciated. The only other option was to sleep with the windows wide open, but since we were on the first floor and it’s a motel with external hallways, we opted out. It also is a pretty busy Main Street, so there is street noise. Between the hot room and the noise it wasn’t the most comfortable night of sleep.
Overall, it was a good stay for 1 night for just needing a place to shower and sleep.
