Waffles aren't just breakfast here – they're an art form, best enjoyed while admiring La Grand Place's gilded guildhalls that seem almost too ornate to be real. The Manneken Pis statue proves even national monuments can have a sense of humour. Duck into the Musical Instruments Museum where vintage saxophones and strange medieval contraptions await behind an Art Nouveau façade. The Royal Museums of Fine Arts houses Flemish masterpieces that make art history textbooks come alive. Chocolate shops offer free samples with such casual generosity you'll wonder if they've miscalculated their profit margins. After dark, tiny pubs serve hundreds of beer varieties, each in its own specially shaped glass – a ritual bartenders take very seriously indeed.

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Brussels

  1. Book for the cheapest times: The most budget-friendly time to visit Brussels is during January, February, and August, when hotel prices are typically lower. To truly appreciate the city's rich history and vibrant culture, it is advisable to stay for at least 2 to 3 days. This duration allows you to explore the city's iconic landmarks, including museums, theatres, and historical monuments. With an affordable trip, you can enjoy the cultural offerings such as live music and architectural tours, providing great value for money while immersing yourself in the heart of Brussels.
  2. Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: To discover last-minute deals to Brussels, begin by exploring the DealsOpens in a new window or Last-Minute Deals sections on Hotels.com, where you may find discounted hotel rates as your travel date approaches. Consider enabling email alerts or push notifications from Hotels.com to stay informed about flash sales and special last-minute offers, helping you seize opportunities to save. Additionally, the Smart Shopping tool available via the app allows you to compare hotel prices and amenities, ensuring you're more likely to find the best options. If room availability changes or prices drop, you'll be among the first to know, making your last-minute getaway easier.
  3. Be flexible with dates: Prices may fluctuate due to factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year, so having some flexibility with your travel dates could enable you to save on your stay in a Brussels hotel. For those in search of distinctive accommodations, boutique hotels often provide a more personalised experience and may offer better value. When you book with Hotels.com, we will inform you whether the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price is on the higher end, we will suggest alternative dates that could be more affordable, helping you to potentially secure a better deal.
  4. Consider your location: Hotels situated near the city centre usually tend to be more expensive, but thanks to Brussels's excellent public transport connections, you may discover a more affordable independent hotel a bit further out that is still conveniently linked. For those interested in exploring alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often excellent value for money to be found. Opting for these alternative destinations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
