2/10 Poor

This property is located on the outskirts of Antigua. It is about a 15 minute walk to the city center along two decently busy roads. The hotel door is closed and you must knock each time you want to enter. We had 2 reservations on separate nights. When we arrived, the hotel did NOT have any of our reservations on file even though we had confirmation from Orbitz. There was only ONE employee in the entire hotel, the GARDENER. He didn't have any idea how to help us because of course that is not his job. He told us that they had a very busy weekend at the hotel and all the staff was resting. (We arrived on a Wednesday). He tried to take us to an available room, but all of the non-occupied rooms were dirty. There were no sheets on the bed, no pillowcases, the bathrooms weren't cleaned, etc. We tried contacting Orbitz which was a disaster because they had to "verify" our story by calling the hotel. When they called the hotel the only person that could answer was the gardener or us. The gardener only spoke Spanish and the Orbitz representative only spoke English. It was an absolute fiasco. We finally got a hold of the hotel owner, Victor, who was NOT helpful at all. After a WHILE on the phone, we were offered a larger room that was clean with sheets. It is absolutely ridiculous that the owner did not offer us the room from the beginning! While the room was spacious, it smelled heavily of varnish. We couldn't open the windows because there were no screens. There were tons of mosqu

Great place
Loved our stay so much we booked our return trip. The staff make the place. Milton was great to chat with and learn some local culture. The pool needed cleaning when we got there but was done shortly after. The pool is a little shallow for adults but fine for cooling off. Perfect for kids

Really glad we came back for a second time! Once again, the staff was amazing. They organized our transport back to the airport and prepared an excellent early breakfast for us. If we ever go back to Antigua, we are definitely staying here again. A special thanks to Milton, Claudia and the manager (whose name I forgot) for a wonderful stay. Casa San Lázaro was like our home away from home.

The hotel is very nicely decorated, clean and quiet. The breakfast is also really good. What makes this hotel so perfect is the staff. They are so helpful, professional and warm, they made us feel like we were friends or family rather than simple guests. The hotel is away from the city center, but it is easily reachable by tuk-tuk or by foot. I highly recommend this place!

8/10 Very good

Only thing I didn't like was the room I got, tje window was looling at the street, there was npoce from the cars that passed by. They let you order food from restaurants to eat in the room which was great! They only offer breakfast. The staff was incredibly kind, it didn't matter the hotel was being fixed in some places, the staff made everything great!

Fabulous Hotel Experience
Amazing staff, super nice hotel, great location, walking distance to everything, and safe. Our family of 5 adults stayed in the Villa which was perfect for our family. Each morning they had a table setup for us outside and served a delicious breakfast (included in room rate). I highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Antigua.

Nice quiet hotel with friendly staff
Nice hotel and very quiet. A bit away from the main hub of things. No bottled water in the room was a big disappointment. Staff is super helpful. Oliver walked my daughter and I to a park. Pool is a nice size and breakfast was very good.

4/10 Fair

This hotel should be under 2 stars
I have stayed in more than 20 hotels in Antigua since I´m from Guatemala City and I enjoy staying weekends on Antigua. This is one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at and Im surprised about the rating lately on hotels.com. Suddenly all the hotels have an amazing rating but at the time you check in, surprise! The hotel is in terrible conditions. This hotel price should be the most $35 per night, and only because of the breakfast that was very good. I had a privileged room location and still the noise on the road is to loud, there is a bus station near by and you can listen all the heavy traffic. This hotel doesnt have special windows. There is also a pool and a small yard, but there were many kids, that seem the owners children and they were extremely noisy, Im sorry but some guest just want to rest. Wifi was fine and they offer a very uncomfortable parking next to the hotel. About the room cleanliness, terrible. The sheets had a small blood stain (still disgusting, picture attached), the floor was sticky and it also seemed it has not been swept for a very long time. The bathroom...there was something going on with the water, it was not constant. The bath tub kept the water forever, it never drained... and for this I think I caught a sort of fungus on my feet, it also had something with the tiles but the water covered all the bathroom floor without me even being inside the tub or splashing, just by turning it on, so I had to place a towel to stop the water running out.
