We had some difficulties getting the lock to operate and the door was hard to open. However, we enjoyed the accommodation. We would have liked having a toaster. Spectacular views!!

Had the entire building to myself, not even any staff, in a colonial-style building with charm. Very quiet, beautiful views from chairs on balcony.

A positive way to spend your 65th birthday! 🤗
We do plan to stay again now that we know what to expect when staying at Laurel Valley. I read the reviews on our way there and glad I had the heads up on no staff present, challenge on finding the chalet once we arrived as well as where the rooms are and getting code to unlock the door. Thank goodness we found a local number to call in one of the emails. The lady stayed on the phone until she directed us to the right building, room, and explaining lock mechanism. All this being said - we found the room to be great, bed comfortable, bathroom amazing, beautifully decorated, and view from covered porch looking out to the mountains was priceless. Ease and proximity to The Abbey in Townsend was a major plus. Our neighbors above us were very loud throughout the night which was no fault to owner. We couldn’t figure out all the construction and remodeling of the first building you come to - clearer signs would be welcoming to guests. Know ahead a time the walk from the parking area down to the chalet is steep and fairly long but worth it once you get to your room. I wish ya’ll the best. Hope to be back soon.

The place was in a beautiful setting. Decorated superbly. Loved the themed doors and rooms. Difficult for many guest to use the locks. We helped one couple how to use the light in room. People would leave the main door ajar. And also saw/smelled guest smoking dope on grounds. A person just needs to be there.

The property could use a good sprucing up. I understand it is in the woods but it needs cleaning up, the pictures on Expedia look nothing like what I saw. In my room it seems the shower was an afterthought, a shower head sticking out of the wall over the jacuzzi. A shower mat would be a good idea as I almost fell while showering.

My stay
The cabin had a beautiful view but, it had used tampons in the trash with a horrible smell, the pillows had pins in it that stabbed you every time you moved, and the TV had damage.

I liked the room, but it was very difficult to plug in devices for recharging. I was never able to figure out how to watch the TV. There was a prompt response to a text I sent. The balcony was quite nice. Thankfully it looked out on a lovely mountain side. This was fortunate since the curtains would not close.

Beautiful view from the Lucy Morgan suite!! Very clean!! Secluded with an overlook deck in the fourth floor. Beautifully decorated lobby(first floor). Gorgeous Koi pond. Steep stairs and no elevator. No staff on property; however, I did call when I first got there to make sure I was in the right place as there are no signs or anything. They were very nice and allowed me early check-in. I would stay here again!!

The property is a quirky place. I didn't realize there are no staff on site. It’s a self check in . There are common areas to be used by all guest, living room, sitting areas etc. and multiple private guest rooms. It is older but well kept. The views are awesome and the bed was very comfortable. Three other couples arrived to stay that night and they also seemed surprised that there was no staff.

Only the deck view and dining area were exactly like pictures. We were excited to go, but when we got there it was nothing like we expected. It was a creaky building, took a few minutes to figure out how to get into it. Had to call and they didn’t seem like they wanted to help. The bed was extremely high off the ground and had trouble getting into it. There was hardly any water pressure. I paid extra for a room because it was supposed to have a Mountain View and it really didn’t. It was pretty clean besides a few bugs which is normal for the area.

Loved the quiet area. Rooms were nice. Only a few minor details that could be better. We only had 3 washcloths for 3 days. 2 for bathing and 1 for face. Daily wash cloths would have been nice. Not everyone has tv packages with passwords. We were limited in viewing. It also cut off the program and the sound was up and down. Would still return though.

Beautiful property in woods and close to everything. Room was very quiet. However we had issues accessing since I didn’t receive our code. I called the support number to get access. We left to go out for dinner and when we got back the code didn’t work again. Had to call support again. Lastly the spa tub didn’t work.

Lost in Townsend
The room was extremely hard to find. Did not recieve any info in advance on how to check in, where the room was. Was not informed on the steep path to get to the room. We are old and it was very dangerous. I had to call managment as were trying to find were we park, were the room was and to get a code. After an hour of walking in the mountains. We found a room, wrong one, tried again. Room had no coffee cups for the coffee maker, asked for 1 and they said it was coming. Nope. Asked for ice, there was an ice bucket. Nope. A small frig was frozen solid. No plates or paper towels. Couch was placed so close to tv it was like front row in theater. Needed to be cleaned, spider webs everywhere. Wont be back

Just don’t do it
We booked the honeymoon suite specifically for the soaking tub. It was pouring rain on our drive to this place. On our way up we got a message about bringing your own water because you can’t drink their water and bring food - which we had. One of either and hadn’t eaten dinner. Also how to get in as there are no staff on site. Which means they give u a digital code then u have to use your thumb print (which I don’t like- none of your business what my thumb print is!) We get to our room - barely as there is no light inside the building and stairs to a narrow hall. There was 1 other person staying and of course had to be across the hall from our room. Use the digital code and thumb print Lalique again to get into the room only to find a very small room - NOT the honeymoon suite. NO soaking tub! Not to mention this place gives of vibes of every murder movie I’ve ever seen. We did arrive in the evening but it was creepy. We called hotels.com to try and get a refund as it wasn’t the room we paid for and didn’t know we needed food and water, again it was pouring rain, we had a rental car and the windshield wipers weren’t great and the road to this place is 2 land, windy and DARK. We ere places on hold while they contacted the hotel. They came back saying the hotel denied our refund request. I called the hotel direct and was told by the lady I spoke to she would talk to the manager as we had just booked the room 1 hour prior and never heard back.

6/10 Good

Check-in was a problem since it is a remote check-in and the follow-up email with check-in instructions was not sent. We called a number and got voicemail, and someone had to call us back and then texted instructions. Keyless entry to our room quit working and we had to again contact someone and wait 20 minutes to receive alternate instructions for room entry. This is a beautiful property and fabulous facility that is quickly going into disrepair. Our room (Lucy Logan) had a broken fire extinguisher, water stains on the ceiling from leaks, a broken jacuzzi when it was advertised as a jacuzzi suite, ick satins going down the wall by the nightstand, room with a view but curtains that were inoperable, dirty curtains adjacent to the bathroom sink, dirty coffee cups, limited coffee service (no cream? no alternative sweeteners) and much more. Other guests indicated that their rooms were in a similar state. It is a super convenient location to Townsend and the Cades Cove entrance to the Smoky Mountains!

Broken AC made for a sweltering sleepless night
We would have appreciated being told that the air conditioning either doesn’t work, or in any case doesn’t cool the room, this being July in Tennessee. It was no less than 80 degrees at 1am and didn’t cool off until probably 4am. Brutal sleeping conditions. My wife and I barely slept because of it. It’s a great location and cool building. Hard to rate service when there none to speak of. I have no issue with that aspect. You’re given a code to access the main door and the room door. But we only saw fellow guests, never a worker. Nice other than the brutal, humid temps inside the room and at night. I would guess the AC is broken, nice it made noises all night. I would also guess the owner knows this, because it was on full blast when we got there, indicating they tried to cool it because they knew the issue. The rental agreement you have to sign absolves them of trouble with such things. Sucks. Nice place, but we spent a good chunk of change, and if I knew then what I do now you couldn’t have paid me to stay there.

Woods and Rustic
The hotel is a barn that has been converted into rooms. In it's day it was a premier location with too notch chefs and top of the line products Time has taken it toll It's like staying in a historical farm village. We stayed one night It was a shock when we got there . We expected a cabin in the hills. the standard room just ok but we contacted the owners and they moved us to the 3rd floor. Much better It was creeky and old, but the room was well kept. The view from the balcony was great being about 30 feet up and deep in the trees. Skylights that show off the mountains was a plus There is a microwave, Small fridge Internet, IP TV and Kureig coffee maker It turned out to be really nice. There are no staff onsite, but the owner responds quick to text and was remarkably friendly and helpful I was told but don't know for sure, but if you stay 3 days they will have a chef onsite to cook food. I don't know that for sure There are only around 6 to 8 rooms in the barn. It looks like they are working to reopen the cabin. It has potential to be a great spot. It's good if you want to get away and not be bothered We would go back. One important thing .. there is no elevator and bringing up luggage can be a challenge. It has a sprin feed creek with a koi pond. The grounds are beautiful but the buildings on the ground are not in good shape Overall It's not too bad.
