10/10 Exceptional

For student accommodation, the place is great, and it’s value is second to none. Likewise the staff were friendly and great to deal with. However, is a 20 minute walk to the city center, and isn’t in the greatest area. Giving it 5 stars as it’s better than expected and considering the price of hotels at the time due to the billy joel concert, a clean bed and ensuite for that price is incredible. However if staying in the future when hotel prives aren’t through the roof, would stay elsewhere in cardiff

The room on the third floor was unbearably hot and actually made me feel quite ill. Unpleasant smell of vinegar when you entered room. Hallways smelt musty. Do not recommend

Don't be put off by the location
This place is great for an over nighter. Stayed here to watch the rugby. The location is rundown and not very inviting but once you are in, it's clean and does the job.

Do not go, unless you're a student!!!
Room is not clean. Floor is so dirty that could not walk barefoot. Shower not functioning properly, hot water stacked. Bathroom not properly ventilated.

Pleasantly surprise
First time we’ve stayed here and was pleasantly surprised. Easy to book. It was clean and staff were helpful. Good value for money as we only needed a bed for the night and shower and team making facilities. Was a little loud at times at night. Overall good.

Great value, helpful staff.
My check in was friendly and helpful. Especially regarding parking arrangements that were well advised and assisted. The room was clean and practical. It suited my needs perfectly for an overnight stay. Huge value for money given some of the more expensive options offered less in terms of the positives outlined above!

Property itself was nice, clean and great facilities. Would have loved my uni galls to be as nice as they were. We were in the ground floor and there was a noticeable smell of drains when we arrived. Area the property is in is very dirty. Litter everywhere! And just seemed grotty.

Very Good
The stay at Arofan House was very good. I can fault the place. The only discomforts were that the pillows were too soft/flat and that the sink in the bathroom was clogged ( water leaked away slowly). This was reported but didn't get fixed before we left as we left the day after it was reported. Easy to commute to toen centre and other places

the property itself is in and ideal location for access to city centre inside the hosts are very welcoming and polite and very informative about where to go and the fire evacuation procedures unfortunately the area around the property was untidy/very messy lookedcrun down and unwelcoming and unsafe ,inside the property was fairly clean the shower and sink didn't look to be clean the bed was in terrible condition and looked like cotton and stuffing put in matress the pillows were super thin and flimsy.

This was a disappointing accommodation. Booked a self-catering studio room, which only to find no self-catering supplies were being provided. In discussion with on site staff, was told that due to the company opening more rooms for short stay this summer they were no longer providing self-catering supplies like plates, cutlery, cups, or pots/pans. This was not stated anywhere during the booking process, and would have changed our choice of accommodation if known. One positive was the on-site staff - they were kind and managed to find us a kettle and a few cups/plates etc, but beyond the staff being pleasant that is the only good thing about this spot. Further, the unit bathroom had a drainage issue in the shower that after reporting to front desk was not resolved. There was also no available rental fans for the suffocatingly hot rooms, and no AC in the rooms just the building hallways.

Honestly…
Well mainly 3 things 1. Mattress isn’t comfortable at all. Definitely needs change. 2. People make noises or too loud arguing in corridor around mid night. There should Be rules not to bother others 3. Staff is kind and good, place is amazing from near by bustop weatherspoon supermarket , it’s neat

Could be cleaner
Stayed here with my teenage son for two nights over the summer holidays. This accommodation is located in a student area about a twenty minute walk to the centre of Cardiff. Area very run down and side street where the accommodation is located was always filthy with takeaway food strewn all over pavements, a real haven for rats! The room was spacious but bathroom small. Room could have been cleaner, the floor at the side of the bed certainly hadn’t been swept/vacuumed and bathroom was quite grubby. For £30 a night I shouldn’t really complain although I definitely wouldn’t want to stay again.

Recommended, but avoid the ground floor...
Property is off term student residence (although there are still plenty of students about...). Second floor room was good, but ground floor suffered from noise from the front of hge building so windows couldn't be left open. Biggest issue was the mad wooden construction at the top of the bed - total H&S issue - brained myself on the sharp corner a couple of times - GET THAT TRIMMED OFF!! Reasonable location for access to the city centre, no site parking, but plenty of on street in the local, reasonable eateries acailable (the Lebanon was superb!!). Would recommed, although try to avoid the ground floor.
The dreaded sharp corner!!

This is student accommodation - so that needs to be taken into account. It was also cheap - which is great!! If you accept that it's a student hall - albeit new and tidy/ clean and basic, then it's great. I was down to watch the rugby and it was perfect for that. The area isn't terrible, but it is a student area, so a bit noisy on a Saturday night at 2:30am. Big downside is no parking on site. Having said that, you can park within a few minutes walk. And it's really convenient for the city centre, and an easy walk. Overall - great value for money, good towels, clean, free pool and a vending machine on site. My room had a fridge, micro/convection oven/ sink etc - as it's self catering student accommodation. Would I go again - yes.
