Misleading Title from Hotels.com
Weren’t expecting a hostel due to the labeling from Hotels.com. Had I been alone or 10 years younger this establishment would have been fine. For the price, however, this was a joke. You can easily stay at the many hotels near Sol for the same price and have 3+ star service.

6/10 Good

It was in a really good location right on the Main Street. The view was nice as well. The beds were as described. There were ants though. The shower is actually a Tun with a hand held faucet you hold up to shower. The staff keeps your key and only gives it to you while you are in the hotel so you have to wait for them to help you every time you come back. The staff is rude and doesn’t want to help you which often left us waiting at the front door pushing the door bell many times even though we could hear her hanging out with her friend. Then she hardly acknowledged us and was rude with us for pushing the button multiple times.

How to loose a guest returning.
Staff most welcoming, however when checking in, I was given a room on the 1st floor which implied going up through difficult stairs. I was told I would be moved the following day because as I stayd a few nights, they felt I should have a more spacious room. When coming down, I requested the receptionist to allocate me a room on the lower floor as the stairs were tortuous and I have a bad knee. She replied that the lower room were kept for long stay guests. I did not reply.

This is a basic room. Think of a room with a bed, a shower, and a television. That's it. It was clean and the hotel was clean to. If you want an inexpensive place to stay that is clean, this is it. I would stay there again if that was all I wanted. Excellent location by all of the shopping in the center of everything. The bad...No English channels on the television. No CNN, BBC, etc. You will be in a news blackout during your stay if you are an English speaker. Internet was adequate and the desk provided an ironing board and iron upon request. The shower room did have a little mold in the corner on the ceiling, but nothing substantial, just a little mold. The shower spray holder was broken, so there was nothing to hold the nozzle while I showered. Also I could never get the shower water temperature right. It would fluctuate from hold to cold. I hate that! As always, the pictures that the provide look better than the real room, but I didn't think that they were that far off, especially the lobby picture. There is always someone at the property. Security mans the front door at night and won't let you in if you are not on the guest list. They also are the ones that let you into the hotel at night. Very safe for you ladies.

Great location hostel
In the center of Madrid, great location. Noises from other guess but I guess it is common problem when you stay in hostels. Bathroom flood back up and smelling. Let receptionist and housekeeping know but didn't get fix. Nice and friendly front services.

Very reasonable place.
I stayed four nights at this hotel and had no problems. I liked it. I travel alone and only really look for the basics. So, a bed, air conditioning, a television, a small table, a shower and the room being cleaned every day seems perfectly adequate. Two minutes from leaving your room, you're standing on the Gran Via. I have to say that the shower is indeed tiny and if you're tall and medium build (I'm 6ft 2ins), a certain amount of choreography is required. Then again, as long as the purpose is served, I think that this adds character to the place.

needs improvement
it was ok, I was specting more for that prize. The First room allocated wifi and air con didn't work and the second room I was moved into the wifi didn't work neither. These second room was not totally finshed decoration wise wich made the stay a bit unconfortable.

A nice weekend stay
I loved the area right in the centre of Madrid. There were easy Metro links and plenty of places to eat and shop. I even found a gluten-free bakery over the road. The WiFi was fine but I was disappointed by the choice of channels on the TV - just three channels, all Spanish. The room was not large but was comfy enough and en suite. I had a nice view from my balcony of a traditional Spanish street below. I would go back here to stay, especially if I got the fantastic price of £30 a night again.

Central yet secluded.
Wonderfully located, central and yet no street noise. The en suite room I stayed in was recently upgraded so it was bright and fresh. Though it was a double room I was on my own so I did enjoy the space. Reception manager was efficient, friendly and willing to engage and give suggestion. Elena one of the reception staff went out of her way to make reservations for a show and contact me with details of the event. I would recommend this accommodation and I would have no hesitation in making a future booking.

Great value and location!
Great location right in the middle of everything on the Gran Via, but rooms do not face the road, so it's not noisy at all. Very helpful and friendly staff, and everything is very clean. The single room's bathroom was tight, but that is to be expected in Madrid, especially downtown. Great value for the room provided!

Central hotel but wouldn't stay here again.
When we arrived they didnt have our booking. We had asked for a double room but they put us in a twin. The room was very small and the bathroom was tiny. The shower leaked and the electricity tripped three times because bulbs kept blowing! The promised terrace was under construction and there were holes in the walls. Overall pretty rubbish.
