Excellent place to stay
Such a lovely place, staff are helpful and welcoming, we loved the breakfast. Rooms are warm and the beds really comfortable. I’ve stayed there twice now and when we next bring the horses to Tallands for two days training we will stay there again.

The place is nice, but needed a few repairs in our room. The staff are happy and friendly, We did book the hotel as it had bit of a spa attached to it. Its the first one i have been to that charges an hourly rate to use even when staying in the hotel, i was even more surprised after spending over £200 on treatments we couldnt use the facilities without paying extra, Its these small things that people remember. Wouldnt use again. Back to the Hotel, the food was very good the breakfast tasted very fresh and you could adapted the options to suit. We also had food one evening in the bar which again was very good, Unfortunately we stayed when the place had xmas parties on so our neighbours both nights came back in late and very loud. But you cant hear the party downstairs. Overall its an alright place, but alot better out there for the simular price.

On arrival we asked for the location of the room and the receptionist immediately offered us a ground floor room as we struggle with too many stairs. Service was excellent by waiters and food was lovely.

Sleepless night in room 7. Awful food
We were put in room number 7. Don’t go there unless you’re deaf because you won’t sleep. There’s a big fan going on all night. I mentioned this to reception after a sleepless night, and my comment seemed to get the person on duty back up and becoming very short in his response. After playing him the recording of the fan noise, he was surprised, yet none apologetic. The bathroom skylight was full of black mould. No ventilation and couldn’t open a window as the noise was terrible. Also, the food is horrible and not worth the price. Staff not knowing much about the food or the drinks - however, the waiters and cleaning people were very lovely and very kind.

My stay
The staff were excellent. The room was not the best we have ever stayed in. The bed was very uncomfortable, probably the worst we have ever had in a hotel; the shower was pathetic with very low pressure, the bath was slippery underfoot with no handrails and the bathroom door did not close as , I presume, it was swollen. The dinner menu was quite limited for anyone who likes simple fare.

Lovely place with beautiful walled garden. Plenty of parking. Lovely sized room for the two of us and our dog. The breakfasts were amazing, lots of freshly cooked choices as well as continental buffet. Reasonably priced evening meal, which was delicious. Very accommodating for people with dogs. Very pleasant mini break in a comfortable and welcoming place.
