Beautiful, historic hotel in the heart of downtown. Excellent location, helpful staff, and absolutely gorgeous lobby. Rooms were a bit smaller than expected, not a lot of surfaces or shelves to put things, and pillows were a little flat--but overall, a very nice hotel and a lovely stay was had. We enjoyed having a drink in the stunning lobby bar both nights, and the location made for some easy sightseeing.

What a beautiful hotel. We stayed in the historic side so it only goes to say that everything isn’t as new as more modern hotels but it was clean and very comfortable. Drawback is not having any tea or coffee facilities in the room but maybe that is to encourage room service. We did a self tour of the building was pretty amazing. Any staff we encountered were super friendly and helpful. We also got to enjoy the pool and a drink in the main lounge area. Would definitely stay here again. It is very central to everything.

The Palmer House is a classic historical hotel located within walking distance of a multitude of Chicago attractions, restaurants and shopping venues. Less than 2 blocks away is Millennium Park, the Art Institute and the Maggie Daley children's park. The lobby of the hotel is magnificent, with it's complete restoration of the original soaring ceilings and their beautiful frescos and murals. Staff are friendly and courteous and the rooms are comfortable, clean and nicely appointed.

Being in downtown Chicago, I was unsure if there would be room to pull my car up to check in, but valet made sure i could keep my car there until i checked in. This hotel is massive, & the separate elevators for certain floors took a second to adjust to, but were fast once i got on. The room was beautiful and all i could ask for. There is so much history in this hotel & i could have wandered for hours, but the city awaited me. This hotel is within walking distance of so many restaurants, shops, landmarks, and well worth the stay. This was where i began my Route 66 trip, and I was very happy i chose this hotel.
