8/10 Very good

Not your typical hotel
There are a lot of endearing qualities to this hotel. We just stayed one night and didn't have time to delve into it's history, but it obviously has a lot of history, or else it would not have been able to be exempt from modern ADA requirements. There are no elevators, so if your room is on the 3rd floor as ours was, you walk two flights of stairs with your luggage. My wife and I are able-bodied, but any physical disabilities would render most of the rooms in this hotel inaccessible. Our walk-in shower was smaller than one might expect, and the shower head was plumbed in such a way that the spray mostly hit the shower curtain covering its narrow entrance.
I was happy with what we got; the inconveniences were overcome by the nostalgic aura that pervaded the place and the comforting setting in the midst of a neighborhood bustling with dog walkers, baby strollers, and joggers.
