Poor first impression
Was in Vienna for business and arrived on the early flight to make the most of hotels.com platinum ‘benefits’ and check in early. Messaged the hotel through hotels.com a week earlier to say I’d be there at 1100am. When I arrived I was told there were no rooms available until 3pm. I was told they do not receive the messages from hotels.com and there was nothing they could do, I could have a dirty room or wait 4 hours for a room. I decided to go for a walk around the shopping centre for 30 mins. When I returned there was a different person on reception so I decided to try again, saying I’d got up at 2am and really needed to sleep. A much warmer receptionist tapped a few buttons and lie and behold a room was available! A poor initial check in and first impression of the hotel. Also left with the feeling that being a platinum member of hotels.com doesn’t really mean anything to them.
