Grand Marais is one of our all time favorite places to go to. We love the natural beauty and always visit Drury Lane Bookstore, the Ben Franklin, Sivertsons, and the Lake Superior Trading Post. We also love shopping at the Food Co-op and the grocery.

Very cool little town with good food options (especially if you like fried food), neat shops, great art community as well. You get a whole lot of what you expect in a little tourist town like this without it being touristy.

It is hands down the most beautiful part of Minnesota. It is always 10-15 degrees colder in the summer than it is in Minneapolis. A great place to escape the noise of the city and enjoy nature.

It is the "end of the season" so whether things are open or not is a bit of a crap shoot but the city remains lovely and walkable.

My partner and I stayed in a 1-bedroom suite at East Bay Suites for a weekend getaway, and it was easily one of the best lodging experiences we've had in Minnesota. The suite was extremely clean, cozy, and well-equipped — full-size fridge, semi-full kitchen with a small oven, a comfy bed, fireplace, DVD player, and a balcony overlooking the charming mountain and town views of Grand Marais.
Before arriving, I requested a romantic setup with rose petals arranged in a heart shape on the bed. Not only did they deliver on this request (for an additional fee), but it came out even better than I imagined — thoughtful touches like this made the entire stay feel special and unforgettable.
The entire property exceeded my expectations — from the spotless room to the welcoming lobby, the stunning lakefront access just steps away, and even the easy, free parking. It was that perfect blend of a hotel experience with the warmth and comfort of home.
The staff were beyond friendly and generous. They offered guests passes for swimming, crafts, s’mores, popcorn, bikes to ride, books, DVDs, and even painting activities. We felt truly welcomed and cared for the entire time.
Location-wise, it's ideal — right in town so we could walk everywhere. This was our first time in Grand Marais, and East Bay Suites made it memorable. Yes, the price was a bit on the higher side, but honestly, it felt worth it. I’ve already told several friends and shared t"
"Great time at the Gunflint Lodge. The cabin was nice and clean, there are tons of activities daily, and beautiful grounds. They have everything needed for the boundary waters….whether venturing off into the wilderness or just hanging at the lodge. Great family vacation. "
"Most beautiful view of the lake. The front desk lady is so kind and helpful. Definitely a little rough around the edges but this spot is worth every penny! "
