Our hosts greeted us warmly after our trudge up the hill from the little train station at Carbis Bay (if only we'd read that they'd gladly pick us up when we arrived!). Within moments we were booked for dinner at a nearby pub, and that set the tone for our stay at Thurlestone House. Whatever our need, from laundry to dinner to a taxi, our host was ready with the phone, and had us in motion almost as soon as we mentioned it.
Generous hours for breakfast. They provided a variety of cold cereals, yogurts and homemade jams, plus fruits and juices. Each person had a personal coffee or tea pot. And then they would ask, "Are you ready for breakfast?" The full English breakfast, of course, which could include sausage, beans, tomatoes and eggs, or salmon, bacon, croissants, or other toast or muffins. I've not included everything-- plenty of variety, all done well.
At breakfast, they would ask, "Where are you going today?" And they were truly interested. "We're going to Mousehole today," we said. "Oh, dear little Mousehole. We love it there." They had plenty of suggestions how to get places and what not to miss. It was such a pleasure to be with them.
Our room was pleasant, and the sea view we paid for did not disappoint.
We loved our stay in Cornwall, and had a wonderful time at Thurlestone House.
