Nice little hotel
The hotel was walking distance from my meeting place so it was convenient. There were plenty of trishaws around so getting arround was easy once you gathered the courage to ride one. Only problem were the mosquitoes in the common areas of the hotel and around Dhaka in general. Also there is no heating in the rooms so it gets cold during the certain times of the year.

Hotel Grand Oriental Dhaka - Pricey but not classy
Too expensive for its price tag (~INR 7500 or $120 that too after 50% discount). The rooms are small with uncomfortable beds, and so is the bathroom - one will barely fit in while taking a shower and there are no hangers for clothes. The view from the room is pathetic and basically one has to keep the curtains on forever. The fitness centre has bare minimum equipment and if there are 2-3 people there it will create a jam. The breakfast is basic.

Good new hotel should get even better
We stayed 3 nights. The staff were very attentive - at times a little too keen but that is perhaps because they were anxious to impress and the hotel wasn't too busy as it was a holiday period. No request was too much trouble and although one or two things were not quite as advertised (the pool isn't open yet and laundry proved impossible during our stay) overall it was a good quality experience, good value and a place that looks like it will improve as the team become more experienced. We enjoyed our stay, thanks to all the staff.
