So, the good stuff first: Nice building, good location, plenty of parking, everything looks clean & tidy & well looked after and the guy who checked us in was very friendly and professional & walked us to our rooms. The rooms were very clean with simple but attractive furnishing & comfy bed. The problem for me started when the people in the room above arrived. They weren't being particularly noisy, just arriving & carrying their stuff into the room, but every single movement & every single word could be heard by me below them. There seemed to be no sound insulation at all & the ceiling even seemed to act as a resonance box, amplifying every little noise. I'm not particularly fussy & can put up with a lot, but there was no escape from the noise. It got even worse when they were in the bathroom as the noise of their extract fan & possibly a shower pump reverberated through my room. Later in the evening their TV was on & again I could hear it booming through the floor even though I could tell they only had it on at speaking volume. And when they got amorous I might as well have been in bed with them, there was no escaping it. Also the shower in my room had poor flow & never got above lukewarm. Looking at reviews it seems I was unlucky with my room (room 11) as the hotel is generally well rated, but the basic requirement is a peaceful comfortable room which I didn't get due to the noise & shower. I've stayed in a lot of hotels & this room was no way near worth the money paid.
Stayed for 2 nights in a superior double room. The room was a good size, although the bathroom area was small as it is a module that was built into the room. The shower opening was small, although this was due to where the shower was fitted, so this may not be the case for all the rooms. The staff were really friendly and the breakfast was tasty and good value. The hotel is well situated to the town in easy walking distance. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would stay there again if staying in the Mumbles.
The food was lovely. Great staff service. Really close to the seafront. Close to a cluster of restaurants overlooking the sea too
Bedroom larger than average, pillows were hard. Shower cubicle broken and water often cold. Breakfast was excellent and staff friendly. Plenty of parking. Convenient position, within walking distance of beach, town and amenities.
Showers weren’t working. Rooms a bit on the smallish side and lighting is very harsh - but flourescent. Good location though and ample parking
My room description (which is down to Hotels.com and not Norton House) was a city view, this needs changing! All I could see was the inside of a courtyard where the gales were blowing a gate open and closed which kept me awake for most of one night. The hotel have since sorted this out but I had to get up and try and sort it out at 3.30 and 5.25 am. Hotels.Com and Norton House need to take on board the comments passed to them or stop asking for feedback if they are not going to do anything about it. The hotel is lovely, the staff are great, the food is good, the rooms are very comfortable.
Reception very efficient and even showed us to our room. Room very cosy with good facilities. The restaurant's 'Early Bird' menu was very good and staff were polite and efficient. Will stay again, when the occasion arises.
Excellent
Such a lovely, comfortable place. Lovely people. Great views over Mumbles Bay.
The staff were so welcoming and accommodating. Lovely place - I was there for a wedding and it was seamless from start to finish. I highly recommend the Norton House Hotel.
