I booked a one night stay for May 27, we were traveling by car through Stelvio Pass towards Lake Como, due to some accidents and delay due to road construction when traveling through the mountains we were unable to be there by 7:30PM which is when check-in ends. During travel I attempted multiple times to get in touch with the hotel to inform them of the situation, all attempts from my cell phone failed due to lack of service. But we stopped twice, at 7:00PM and called the hotel from a land line at a restaurant, the phone just kept ringing with no one answering, neither was there an answering machine picking up to leave a message. We called again at 9:00PM from a restaurant with the same result, we arrived at the hotel at 2:00 in the morning finding it all closed up, when we called a number provided at the entrance someone picked up responded briefly and then hung up on us. We spend the rest of the night in the car. When communicating with the hotel afterwards through Expedia messaging no solution could be reached, the hotel stood by their policy, even after discussing that our late arrival was due to circumstances completely out of our control. The hotel offered we could stay a different night which was not possible for us, to find a fair solution for both parties I even offered the hotel to apply a 30% fee and refund the remainder of the reservation, my offer was ignored and the hotel chose not to respond.
