Weekend break
Hotel starting to be a little dated especially bathroom, service is a little hit or miss as some staff seem a little uninterested at times

Nice hotel, but noisy room and poor Wi-F strength
Nice cosy pub hotel. Easy free parking, nice staff, good room/bathroom and food. Unfortunately let down by a roadside room which was very noisy with traffic. Glazing in the room isn't modern so doesn't block out the noise. Woken up at 5am by a car driving past with a straight-through exhaust, then constrant loud traffic noise from that time onwards. Wi-Fi in room also kept dropping out.

Shame no sleep
Had a room next to the road. Unfortunately did get much sleep, then at 7.30 in the morning the brewery lorry pulled up delivering barrels of beer so no chance of having a decent rest. Room was nice, but part of the orginal window was missing so only had a double glazing unit.

Do not accept room 1
We've eaten here many many times and the food is always lovely, so we stayed when we needed an overnight room. The new rooms are just decorated and really nice. But we got stuck in an old room, in the back of beyond. Ground floor, back door didnt lock (opened onto unused, unmaintained terrace adjoining loud nain road), remote not work. Very much in need of a refurb - paint peeling, shower tray needs updating/grouting. Very sad state. New mattress needed, as you could feel the bed sltas, rough old brushed cotton sheets. The room i would class as a 2 star. Given as excuse that hotels.com allocated the room! Really? That being said whole building needs a refresh, decor, paint, new flooring. But staff seem nice.

A lovely old and quirky inn! The food was lovely and the room spacious and comfortable. The room had the most incredible roll-top bath and the bed was huge. It was quite warm but fans were provided. I had a couple of problems which I tried to email using the address provided in the room, but it is not available. 1) the Saniflow toilet had a problem and would make a grinding noise every 20 minutes through the night making for a very disturbed sleep. 2) the drencher shower head was so blocked with limescale that hardly any water came out As these are fixable problems it certainly wouldn’t stop me from visiting again.

Cosy room, excellent dinner and breakfast
Two of us stayed the night, comfortable and cosy room . We were near the front of the hotel (room 4) so there was some road noise. The room was quite warm, had the weather been warmer we'd would've had to make a choice between opening the window to keep cool or keeping the window shut to block out the road noise. The bed was comfortable. The ate in the restaurant, the food was amazing, the bar had good ale, both a reasonable price, great service and staff Breakfast was also good. Definitely stay here again.
