My husband and I had a wonderful stay at The Thompson. We had been to Palm Springs before, but it was nice to stay somewhere that was more centrally-located. (Definitely walkable, you can also easily take an Uber to most other spots in Palm Springs within 10-15 min.) Service was warm and they are incredibly dog-friendly, even in the restaurant/bar, which was a big plus for us as we brought along our pup.
The other draw (as is with Thompson Hotels in general) is the design - while the hotel isn't fully finished yet, the rooms are thoughtfully appointed, chic, have great lighting in the bathroom, and very comfortable beds. I believe most if not all of the rooms on the property have a balcony. My only criticism here is that our room faced a somewhat busy street, and you could hear the traffic in the evenings - but we're from NYC, so it wasn't a deal-breaker for us.
We didn't get to use the pool, but it looked great, and the gym was spacious and relatively well-equipped. Lola Rose (the property's bar and restaurant) was also a nice spot to hang out for a drink and a bite, although service was a little more on "Palm Springs time" unless you are in the main dining room.
Overall, a nice spot to stay that I would recommend if you wanted to be more central, and especially wonderful if you have a dog.
