Really disappointing!

We stayed for 3 nights in April. The hotel is a little run down. The restaurants are not good enough for a 5 star hotel. Both the Korean and Japanese restaurants are average at best. The ambience is terrible. The food ok. We are a family of vegetarians, at the Korean restaurant we were served a side with prawns in and a chicken soup. I find this absolutely not acceptable. The dinner was a vegetarian set menu. Not sure I would stay here again.

전반적으로 좋습니다. 특히 숨비정원이 너무 좋았고 조식 훌륭합니다. 그런데 수영장은 좀 작아서 들어가지는 않았고 사우나도 유료인 것은 아쉬웠습니다. 침구도 좀 불편했어요. 직원분들 너무 친절하고 관리 잘 되어 있어서 좋더라고요. 참 밤에 들어오면 주차하기 좀 불편하더라고요

좋은 리뷰들 때문에 너무 많은 기대를 했던 탓일까, 신라호텔은 우리에게 아주 끔찍한 경험을 겪게 해주었다. 기대했던 웰컴 드링크와 함께하는 테이블 체크인도 따뜻한 환대도 없었다. 다만 남은 것은 아직 자기 생각도 제대로 말 못하는 아기에 대한 추가 요금 부과 뿐이었다. 해외 유명 호텔을 모방한 엔티크한 가구들은 오래되었다는 이유로 관리도 되지 못한 채로 방치되어 있었다. 칠이 벗겨지고 낡고 닳아도 보수되지 못한 채로. 녹슬은 하수구 뚜껑과 작동하지 않는 샤워기 헤드는 내가 5성급 호텔이 아니라 오래되고 허름한 동네 여관방에 온 건 아닌가 하는 착각을 불러 일으키기에 충분했다. 그들이 자랑하는 뷔페는 전반적인 퀄러티는 나쁘지 않았으나 본인들만의 스타일로 해석한 일부 음식들은 오히려 본연의 맛을 가려 정체성을 잃은 난해한 요리가 되어 있었다. 도시의 딱딱함을 피하기 위해 휴양지로 떠난 가족 여행에서 우리는 오히려 숨이 턱턱 막히는 대우를 받고 있었다. 시가보다 두세배는 비싸지만 국내 최고의 차별화된 프리미엄 서비스라는 이름으로. 우리 기대가 너무 컸던 탓일까? 해외 5성급 호텔을 모방한 신라호텔은 있었지만, 한국을 대표하는 5성급 호텔은 찾아볼 수 없었다. 그럼에도 최악이라고 생각하지 않은 것은 부대시설과 청소 담당 직원들의 친절함과 서비스 정신 때문이었다. 아이를 위해 싱글 베드 두 개를 붙이고 요를 깔아 더블 베드로 만들어 준 세심한 배려는 정말 고마웠다. 외국인 청소부에게 오히려 한국의 정을 느낀 점은 참 아이러니했다. 제발 신라호텔 수준에 걸맞는 따뜻함과 친절함이 더해지기를 바란다.
