Very basic
It was ok. We had a room with three twin beds for our family of 3. Very basic, not updated at all. Shower was roomy. Overall clean but just very minimal in every way.

I would have given a 5 star easily but since we needed wifi for our trip it was at best a 3 star. We booked here because it was in a good area by vondelpark and a decent price. The ad says free wifi but didn’t disclose that it doesn’t reach all the rooms. Made it very frustrating. Other than that it was amazing and great staff.

Great location, architecture outside beautiful. Room size ok but no AC on 80 degree day (not their fault). Main problem was the room smelled very musty and there was mold along floor in bathroom. Asked front desk to come to room and she did. She said it smelled normal to her.

4/10 Fair

The building itself is a very nice period building with easy access to Vondel Park. Unfortunately converting this property to a hotel was poorly done and does not match its 3 star rating. Our basement room did not offer the "city view" promised, it was cramped and sparsely decorated/furnished and the room safe was not fixed to any surface making it vulnerable to theft. There was evidence of poor maintenance of paintwork and the shower area (tiny) was unclean. The reception was not manned beyond 7pm so there was no-one on site to contact if an emergency (fire?) arose during the night. The photographs and description of the property were misleading. I will not be returning to this hotel and would not advise anyone else to do so.

2/10 Poor

Nightmare from start to end
Booked to stay here for my mum's 70th, noting this on the booking and that I was pregnant - as a result, we needed a quiet, clean, fresh twin room that was not in the basement. The hotel responded to say they would accommodate us. When we arrived, we had not been given a twin (after an hour of negotiating this was rectified) in the basement which stank of smoke and mould, was dark and dingy, with marks on the walls and didn't look anything like the photos advertised. The room was located next to the stairs and door, and other residents were smoking directly outside the one unsafe window - the photos I've uploaded to not adequately reflect the smell. The bathroom was so small you could barely fit into it. I felt unclean just being in there. We immediately realised we could not stay there for either of our health, but the manager refused to give us another room or talk to us. The receptionist did what she could, but without the manager agreeing to refund us, there was not much we could do. I got very stressed, not very good for the health of my baby, and hotels.com were beyond useless - wasting 2 hours of our time. This whole process went on for 3 hours, and we ended up moving hotel that evening. I am currently out of pocket for 4 nights, during which I presume the hotel resold our rooms. I cannot recommend anything about this experience, or hotels.com. I am now pursuing action to try against hotels.com for an incorrect listing.

6/10 Good

Good location, very basic room
Staff were very friendly, and the hotel in a great location. A few things that needed fixing in the room were not fixed during my stay. The door did not lock properly which, as a solo female traveller, made me a little uncomfortable. Turns out it had not been fitted correctly so didn't fit the hole in the door frame. The safe in the room didn't work, needing a new battery. I flagged this up on my first morning before heading out for the day. The person at reception wrote it down, and I assumed this would be fixed by the time I returned later that day. But it wasn't. It didn't work for the whole of my stay. The other small issue was that the room was on the lower floor and had a very large window that opened straight out onto the side drive, and the loose hinges meant it didn't hold it's position. It just swung right open. If it was warm, I couldn't sleep with the window open as there was no way of securing it, so somebody could easily step into my room. I understand the need for the large opening window being an emergency exit point, but a smaller opening window added to the frame would be helpful for fresh air. Also, I think the drains may need looking at as there was a constant unpleasant small in the bathroom. The sink was missing a plug, and the toilet only had half a flush button. Good points: The bedroom area was clean, the bedding was spotless, and the bed was comfortable.

Nice hotel. The staff are very kind and willing to help you if you need it. The rooms are comfortable. It's near the Van Gogh Museum and Reijksmuseum. It's expensive, but everything in Amsterdam is expensive.

Very satisfied
The Atlas was so convenient for our stay. We like 'old' which is why we chose a place like this. I believe they are updating the rooms. We were not put off by the couple things that needed attention. The Spanish lady at the front desk was just great! She was friendly, helpful, funny. The breakfast was at a sister hotel down the street, and it was fabulous. We would stay here again.

Lovely location, my room was a little dated. The bathroom had an overhead shower over the bath, due to the sloping roof I was unable to stand up straight. Very friendly and enjoyed the free coffee
