6/10 Good

The Nyungwe Nziza was fine, but I don't think it's worth more than about $60/night. There shouldn't be more than one guest room per hut, because they are not at all soundproof, and if the property is not full, staff should space out the guests. I didn't like that the walking path went directly outside the room windows. The bathroom was poorly lit, there were only bath towels (no hand towels or washcloths) and there was only low-quality bar soap provided in the way of toiletries. Wifi didn't really work anywhere, and the restaurant was overpriced.

Not a fan, over priced!
In our opinion this area is super over priced and so was the hotel. In our room we had no closet or hangers, no desk, no bed side table, nothing to put your stuff or hang clothes. WiFi is only at the lobby and sadly it never worked! We had no water for over half a day. The staff was 50/50 some were friendly and helpful like the French manager but others not helpful or nice at all. I’d look elsewhere

8/10 Very good

The property has a wonderful view of the neighboring tea plantations and misty Nyungwe forests. Great base to be if you want to go on day excursions from Uwinka reception center. The wooden cottage was very well built with good insulation from the cold, kettle was a nice touch. They provided a full and hearty breakfast. The cottages are located up a very steep slope, would not recommend if guests have major mobility concerns.

Good value, flexible hotel with super views
The location is beautiful. Double room with view had the view of the first as shown in my photo. There is a very very steep but not slippery paved path up to the room from car park. The room was spacious and had welcome fruit and kettle for tea etc. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Meals are served all day. A good selection and wel prepared. Breakfast was super. There were adequate power sockets for charging ( two pin). We had a power cut due to a switch going off in the night but they fixed that. It took us an hour to drive to the forest visitors centre. You can't just walk in the forest. The trail near the hotel is closed for now. However you can walk to the research station which is nice. The hotel also arranges walks in the tea estate. Good value.

Ok
