From the outside, the hotel would be more in keeping in Cornwall than the rugged west coast of Scotland. My welcome was sadly half hearted and disinterested but my room was well appointed and comfortable.
However, the restaurant is trying to be something that it isn’t. It was suggested that I take a seat on a sofa in the bar area and someone would take a drinks order. After 15 minutes, patience ran out!
I didn’t fancy a starter and thought a small dish of olives would suffice. The cheapest, nastiest olives I’ve seen or tasted for a long time. No stick to eat them with and after enquiring, a plastic toothpick was the best on offer!
My fish pie was good but glazed carrots are just the wrong vegetable. The charming waitress was overly busy whilst her colleague, in an inappropriately short skirt, propped up the kitchen pass chatting to the duty manager/restaurant manager who was equally ineffectual and lacking in observation.
Some good ideas but shock application. I wouldn’t return.
