.
The hotel staff were lovely and accommodating, even letting us check in early. The room whilst only for two of us was very small. You could not sit on the toilet without having to lean a significant amount to not be blocked by the sink next to you. Additionally, the toilet had a leaking problem where the floor became soaked no matter how much we tried to dry it out. Most of all, the slanting mattress was the biggest issue. The double bed we had was in fact two singles pushed together with a double mattress topper. The single mattresses constantly, regardless of effort to keep together, constantly came apart making sleeping very uncomfortable and back aching. Other than these inconveniences the stay was lovely and we had a great time.

Very comfy and quiet
Lovely stay in lower floor room. Quiet, just far enough out of the city to be really peaceful. Super comfy bed and quilt. Friendly and attentive staff

Weekend break in Amsterdam
Booked a single room for a two-night weekend stay. The room is small but perfectly comfortable for a solo traveller, and there are plenty of clever little shelves and storage, plus everything you'd expect from a decent hotel (TV, Nespresso machine, even a complimentary bottle of water). I actually really liked it. Bathroom was also small and perhaps just a little too much so, with not much space to dry after shower etc. But again it did the job; walk-in shower with curtain, hairdryer, couple of shelves and two hooks on the door. Staff were very friendly on check-in and check-out. I didn't have breakfast so can't comment (only because I was meeting friends elsewhere for breakfast). Apparently they do bike hire too but again I didn't use it. Location was about 20 mins walk from the centre, Centraal station etc, and a pleasant enough walk day and night. I would definitely recommend the Lancaster and would stay there again.

Great location for easy transport around the city, staff were friendly and helpful. The only downside for some might be the small size of the bathrooms, was alright for me but I’d imagine it would be very tight for some.

6/10 Good

The hotel is situated in a fairly quiet neighbourhood, located just around the corner from the University of Amsterdam Business School and about 20 minutes walk from the city centre. The rooms are reasonable size, have an en suite, television, desk, safe, wardrobe etc. We were on the third floor and had a sloped roof above the bed, which was weird but worked. Breakfast is good, with hot and cold options, consisting of eggs, bacon, pancakes, cereals, pastries, cheeses, fruit and more. The apple cake is very good! There are many restaurants and cafes near the hotel, along with a nearby zoo and supermarkets. My only gripe about this place is that our mattress sank in the middle and made for an uncomfortable sleep. I hope they change that out.

Comfy and good location
Really loved the location! Kinda easy to get everywhere by tram or on foot. The room was fine although we felt it could’ve had a few more hooks for towels. Also, when we got there there was a funny smell in the room which luckily disappeared after keeping the window open during our stay. Generally clean, although there were a bunch of dead mosquitoes on the window sill inside they weren’t cleaned away. Would recommend it and stay here again though.

The property was on a great location. Most places were within a 15-20 minute walk which one can really enjoy because the city is just beautiful. The room was spacious and clean very modern and quiet. Overall we loved the place

Property well situated to explore the city, 20 min walk, 10 min tram ride to dam square. Property OK, bit tired looking in areas. Booked a twin room which was fine but very small. Space so limited that the twin beds were immediately adjacent so no different than a double bed! Bathroom tiny. But overall ok and comfortable as we didn’t spend much time in the hotel. Staff were lovely, very helpful and friendly.

Inaccurate room photos
The pictures shown for room types were a very far cry from what was available. This hotel is extremely dark in the rooms, particularly with small windows. I booked what I understood to be the best room available and truly felt like I was staying in an attic.

We enjoyed our stay very much. Staff friendly, rooms clean, within walking distance of central Amsterdam, trams close by, restaurants within walking distance and they serve a great breakfast.
